Started a few basic characters here.

My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

An alternative language.

But if you ask me, it will be to much work to get the game running

well, I like the idea of having a language for each race, would be a lot of work though. but at least something so you know what kind of naming system every race uses (if they all use the same, it gets a bit boring I think..)

I liked the idea Hook(or silver_hook) posted on the TreeCastle Forums.

Mirthins don\'t have surnames as humans do. They rather speak of someone as the son of his father, or the daughter of her mother.     also the most Mirthin female names end with -el or with -ea or another vowel to precede the -a (ex. -aa -ia)   and most male end with -al or with a consonant preceding the end -a (ex. -na -la -ra)     example:   Goshna syn-Trakal = Goshna, son of Trakal   and   Tremel sana-Tharaea = Tremel, doughter of Tharaea     Although Goshna and Tremel are siblings from their own parents they don\'t share the same \"surname\". That is because young Mirthin boys are mainly tought by their fathers how to fight, hunt and farm, and young girls are tought by their mothers how to cook and heal and tend the garden.     From time to time there exist also \"sons of their mothers\" (ex. Rathla syn-Mreae), which are male healers; and \"doughters of fathers\" (ex. Merlia sana-Wrynal)who are female hunters.

every race should have a naming system like this, would be really nice to see what kind of race someone is just by looking at his name :)

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO..... We cant make some language that takes english but just has different characters. my god a 2 year old could make a language like that... we need a language with a different number of characters, different past, present and future tenses and all that stuff. Thats why some think we shouldnt have an alternative language at all because its too much work and no one will speak it because too many things will get stuck in translation. and if the language isnt that complex then it would be stupid....

I like the idea of different languages for the different races, adds more realism. And the letters/symbols should make some sort of sense. I mean, no random \"This symbol means this\" sort of thing. No, that\'s not quite it. The symbols should go together, and look like it comes from a single language. The image you posted, Kuiper, doesn\'t quite do that. It rather looks like a mixed assortment of lines and circles. And we should keep in mind the background of the races and their nature when thinking about language. I\'d assume that the Enkidukai would have a lot of r\'s and s\'s, for example, being feline. Each race could stress some sort of sound.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Well thanks for the publicity :D , but fixing people with last names is bad.

I\'d say the font is a bit too complicated Kuiper.

Maybe, someday, a lot of those 33year old, fat, lazy, jobless, D&D adicts, that live with their mothers will come and make a great language for PS.... I mean think about it, how many times have you seen them brag about how many languages they speak... im talking about languages like elven, dwarven, those things from star treck.. u get the point...

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

Whemy take a chill pill, there just characters. There\'s no real technical uses for it, calm down.

Well im just trying to convey that if we make a language it has to seem like a real one and include culture different rules and stuff like that. it cant just be a code for the english language.

I just thought this. What if we had like 24 big stones scatterd out on some remote location. Those stones had characters like that Kupiter made. When you have all Sentenses you will have to info to get a very secret yet heavy rewarded quest. When the quest is completed, the stones will change it\'s text and the place where the quest is will move. Maybe the stones too move?

Thats just my 2 cents

absolutely NO good can come from the idea of creating a new language if it\'s more than superficial markings on textures and/or skins.

Why not using Tengwar?
Tengwar is commonly used alphabhet for many languages (no only Tolkien related) and should fit Your needs.

Thorsten Renk wrote Sindarin\'s course where You can find all info about Tengwar - http://home.agh.edu.pl/~evermind/mathom/pedin_edhellen_en.zip

Kuiper I like the idea, although it think it would be realy bad to make a new language I like the idea of using letter\'s that don\'t exist. Planeshift uses ttf files as font files. So it could be posible, it would even be posible to have a skill that would make you read normal characters, because you would just change fonts.

P.S. I wouldn\'t mind if all the quest were in Klingons:))
P.S.S I think the characters shoul be a bit more abstract  because these realy don\'t fit in any font file :(
