unknown crash
« on: February 08, 2004, 09:37:40 pm »
ok, when I try playing I click the connect button and then touch nothing while I wait for it to load. I don\'t even move the mouse. Then as its loading the music gets choppy, it gets to the \"initializing world\" step and after about 2-3 minutes the program closes. When it closes no error messages come up at all. I\'m completely stumped here, I\'ve tried everything I can think of so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance

Could you post your computer specs please?

Hmm.. well, I notice a couple of things. Firstly, if you\'re running WinXP, 256mb RAM may not be sufficient to load the game.

Also (and I\'m not sure about this), but it\'s common knowledge that you should never mix two types of RAM. Here you have SDRAM chips and a DDR video card... it just seems a bit dodgy to me... However, if you don\'t have problems with anything else, then I doubt this is the cause of your crashes.

If you still have all the part files, try re-compiling the setup.exe and install the game again. Then, as a last ditch effort, try re-downloading.

That\'s all I can think of. Good luck. :)

yes, the RAM is definately a problem, I have 256 mb too(and winxp), but I have loads of virtual memory, try increasing that by going to:
System - Advanced - the first button - Advanced - Virtual Memory - Change

You can increase the amount of space it should use as virtual memory there, mine is min. 786 max. 1024 mb

PS. sorry if it\'s ununderstandable, my winxp is dutch, I don\'t know exactly what all that stuff is called in english :P

Actually quite good translations Axsyrus :)

If it was unclear though, right click on my computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Options -> then hit the change button under the Virtual Memroy subheading.

Edit: Or you can go through control panel, and click on system.  Same procedure after that.
