ok this kinda ties in with the problems of looting/loot stealing

i was reading vol II of the complete history of middle earth recently

in the story the treasury of nargothrond is taken by the dragon glourund when he attacks the city, he sets Mim the dwarf to ward it and mim places a number of curses on it...henceforth anyone who lays eyes on the gold is enchanted by it and has bad luck (in the story this curse leads to the fall of doriath, the death of thengol and an agelong strife between 2 families of the dwarves

basically this is my idea for implementation

when a party kills a creature they each automatically curse the loot accoding to their own skill and damage dealt

anyone who takes more than their rightfull claim falls under the curse of the ones who get less than their rightfull claim...this curse would lie on the loot until it is in the hands of the curser

eg

Player A and B kill a monster.

A deals 75% of the damage and is a poor mage
B deals 25% of the damage and is a powerfull mage

Scenario 1: A takes all the loot, 25% of the loot is cursed by a powerfull curse

if A gives the cursed loot to B then the curse is removed permanently

if A gives the loot to someone else the loot remains cursed

Scenario 2: B takes 60% of the loot and A 40%.. 35% of the loot will be cursed by A (this loot will be of the 60% B took) and the curse will be poor due to B\'s skill

if B gives the cursed loot to A then the curse is removed permanently

if B gives the loot to someone else the loot remains cursed

scenario 3: Player C steals all the loot, 75% of it is cursed by player A\'s poor curse and 25% by B\'s powerfull curse

if C returns the loot to its rightfull owner then the curses will be removed

Basically what this would do is:

Allow a fair ditribution of loot but not make it mandatory
allow stealing but at a price depending on the victim
allow loot to be distributed as the players wish but the rightfull owner has to physically give the loot to someone else if they wish them to have it un-cursed

Strange that im the first one to post here.... I like the idea

Mages or monks should be the only ones that can place curses on objects depending on their power, some might get payed for doing so. Also they could lift the curse again but with more difficulty. And they can check for a curse on a object.

And a curse can have a timer so it only activates after a certain time. Or with a trigger to it. Then you can give an enemy such an object to use it when the time is right.

Next to curses blessings might be used too in the same sense.
If your opponent is willing to die for his cause, he and you have the same goal set in mind.
