AGES gambling and entertainment guild
« on: February 14, 2004, 07:27:34 am »
currently we are not official (seeing as i set it up bout an hour ago and so far we have 2 members and no website.... im working on gettin all that sorted)

Name: Academy of Gambling and Entertainment Services

Aim: To provide events and competitions facilitating the re-distribution of wealth (ie gambling) and to provide entertainment

Current offerings:

simple dice : highest number wins

Pay-the-difference : prize is multiplied by the difference between winning and loosing dice rolls (be warned you can loose as big as you can win)

complex dice

blackjack

eye-spy (pay per guess - large prizes)

Riddle (pay per guess - large prizes)

hide + seek (pay per play - large prizes)

Forthcoming events:

In the future i hope (with the increased functionality of the server) to introduce events such as:

animal fights
gladiator fights
mage fights
racing
chase the lady
etc

Positions within guild:

We currently need players with a fair size collection of crystals in case of high wins, it will be up to individual members to decide the odds of their games to ensure their own crystal supply

Future positions:

In the future we hope to have a guild treasury, this will require full-time \'Financiers\' to gather additional wealth for the pot

additionally we will need:

security personnel
animal trainers
bookies
Strategists
gladiators
smiths
healers
and possibly builders to construct suitable arenas

Please note we only require honest people (no thieves) to ensure both the safety of our treasury and the reputation of the guild

hope that tells u everything u need to know... and if u fancy a flutter... look us up :)

Good luck with the new guild, Deddarus.  Hopefully you can bring us some entertainment in the days and years to come.

Just a note, though; racing certainly is possible today, and there have already been several race competitions.

Gambling is evil ;) Unless you can use magic to change dice result, in that case it\'s good :P

More seriously, i wish you to succeed and prosper, your guild has very interesting and original goals.

ok.. to make my life easier im gonna explain all the games we currently run:

Simple dice:

(2 players)

a bet is agreed
both players roll 1 6-sided dice each
highest number wins the agreed bet from the other player

Pay the difference:

(2 players)

a bet is agreed
both players roll 1 6-sided dice each
the player with the highest number wins
the winning player recieves (winning number - loosing number)*bet amount from the other player

complex dice:

(2 players)

a bet size is agreed
player A states higher or lower
player B rolls an 11 sided dice
prize = bet size * number higher/lower than 6 (depending on what player A stated)

eg..

player A bets 2 rubies lower
roll = 2
player A wins (6-2) * 2 rubies = 8 rubies

player A bets 1 ruby higher
roll = 10
player A wins (10 - 6)*1 ruby = 4 rubies

player A bets 5 rubies higher
roll = 4
player A looses (6-4)*5 rubies = 10 rubies

Blackjack:

(2 players)

im gonna assume u know how to play blackjack irl

to draw a card u roll a 10-sided dice

due to no suits 5 card trick does not apply
for simplicity 1=1 and never = 11

when playing against an AGES guild member the guild member will always draw 2nd (dealers advantage)

if 1=1 and never 11, then it is impossible to get an actual blacjack.  you have to always have at least 3 \"cards\" to get 21.

and yer point is.... its called balckjack cos it is LOOSELY based on it.... basically i took out the ace rule cos i couldnt be arsed to explain it to everyone (u wouldnt believe the amount of ppl who dont know how to play blackjack irl)

however if a \'punter\' likes the rule they can ask to play with it in effect

still a valid game without it

EDIT: additionally unlike with RL blackjack u arent dealt 2 cards to start with... tho i could, again if ppl wish, make it a rule that the 1st roll is 2 *10 sided dice

new game:

Tombola

Cost to play = 1r

a 200 sided dice is rolled

numbers ending in 0 are winning numbers

the prize is the first 2 digits added togther in rubies

eg..

player rolls 170
player wins 1+7 = 8 r

player rolls 20
player wins 2 r

player rolls 199
player wins nothing

info:

chance of winning = 1 in 10
maximum prize = 10r (or 10 * entry fee)

this game gives a chance of winning big whilst only putting up a small stake :)

Sounds good, but I wouldn\'t tell the owners of the \"casino\" that last bit ;)

BTW, this organised gambling idea is great. You don\'t have to be a member of the guild to play I take it? It\'s just your guild deals with all the \"bookkeeping\", right? :) I look forward to the day when I can walk into the AGES casino :) Good luck guys.

P.S. From what I\'ve seen of the site it\'s looking like a good start, but that text box was a bit small for my liking. Just thought I\'d comment :)
