Weapons's aura and more !
« on: February 15, 2004, 08:17:00 pm »
Oh yeah ! I think some one posted something like that here...

I was thinking about some \'gems\' to atch in weapons, then cames the idea... why not some classes of those \'gems\', yeah, some \'aura gem\' \'stats gem\' and \'element gem\'.

Aura Gem: your weapons still the same, no color or phisical changes, but it won a aura, like the kind of gem you put. exaple: you heave a glyph, and atach a \'red aura gem\', so you glyph gain a red aura around it, and a status like \"+10 to cast red spells\". The aura gems can be a specific spell bonus, to your weapon or armor.

Stats Gem: when you, put some of those gems to it, i changes the color to the color of the gem, if put a black gem, in a Scythe, it became a Black Scythe, then it will heave a status bonus and modifier, like \"+10 damage against holy things, +7 of durability against darkness\". The Stats Gems can change the kind of type is the weapon or armor.

Elemental Gems: these change the based damage and visual of the weapon, or add a elemental/way resistence to your armors. Like, you add a \"Ice way Gem\" to a simple Hammer, then it became something like a  \"Frozen Hammer\". Can change the way of your armor to, thing in something like a \"Wooden way Gem\" to your armor, then it became a \"Wooden Clothes\". to a bonus like \"+10 resistence against earth atacks, and -10 against flame abilitys\"

_____________Some fixs to that \"wish\"_____________

Something like a \'one kind of gem slot\'
And not able to remove those gems after placed.
Some kind of \'need 4 points in azure way to use that gem\' will stop a newbie to use a \"Red Aura Flaming Sword\".

_____________Some funny stuf_____________

A gold gems, just to turn you weapons and armor in gold, with a gold aura and gold damage based.
Just sounds good to a paladin  :P

_____________Final things_____________

That wish is cool to the game to the visual, the background and the customization of the character too.

Thanks for reading...
Sorry about my english too...

Really cool idea. I love it. :)

My addition:
I think only smither should be able to put a gem into a sword or removing it. The number of gems that can be put into a sword depends of the quality of the sword and the skill of the smither. It\'s fairly safe and easy to create a sword with a gem inside but if you want to remove or add a gem, you take the risk to destroy the sword or even the gem.

This is a very cool idea. My only concern is that Diablo has a very similiar system to this, with socketed items.

I like this idea, it goes with the whole crystal theme, and the \"ways\" nicely.

*gives it thumbs up*

sounds good, looks liek diablo indeed, but there should also be a limit to each item to the ammount of gems that can be put into it, otherwise a good player with a lot of gems could get a armor plate with like 500 gems, what would become a little hard to beat...

And i think every1 should be able to put a gem in, but that the power of a gem depends on your smither lvl or so.
That with like a lvl of 0 you would get 25% of the gems max, and with a higher lvl, you would get a higher percentage of the gems maximum power into your item.

altough on the down side, think about the code that would need this.....
