this just sounds like a copy of severance combat to me >.>
sverance has the best combat system i have ever seen but you would have to be transported into someother battlefield or something for this to work other wise dodging with 20 people in the backround would be impossible >.<

hmmm ill try and find a link for info on it in a minute
ill just explain how the severance combat goes for now...
firsting a little icon showing the avatar of the enemy your fighting appears on the top of the screen. you then press \'tab so you are \'lock on\' to that target and always facing them. then the controls
LMC - downward slash
LMC + forward - high slash
LMC + backwards - low slash
LMC + left - left slash
LMC + right - right slash
RMC + back - jump backwards
RMC + left/right - dodge left/right
ctrl - raise shield

then when you go up levels you learn move special attacks like the knights speed kill: LMC + right x2
you can also pick up random objects and thow them, even a fallen monsters head!
when attacking you have a energy meter that goes down everytime you attack and needs to recharge.
your shield has hps so it can only block so many attacks before it breaks

i think i have explained the basics there

yeah it looks good but we cant just copy another games battle machanics. Thats dumb and the whole point of this game is to be unique. Plus how does this system relate to blunt weapons, ranged weapons, and magic?

archery is just first person charge up and fire with no crosshair so you usually have to fire a test shot before you hit what your aiming at
blunt weapons are exactly the same as swords explained above same with polearms, 2 handers and axes

and magic.... well you cant cast magic.... only the monsters can
except maybe when you have the sword of Ianna and you do the special attack with it that fire a big blast thing

I would love to see this implemented.  This would definately work well to separate noobs from experienced, without even levels/powering.  this would also work cool with the type of warrior you are.  if you are a assassin, you would always attack from back and stab/dodge tactics.  for a warrior you would have a shield and a sword and basically rip your opponent apart :).  I didn\'t read your ranged ideas yet, I will though...


as for what syzerian said, this idea is different, as I understood there could be countless number of attacks all depending of the speed of your mouse movement :) and combinations of button clicking.

I didnt get the shield usage? How does a shield suddenly appear if you right click when right clicking is assigned to stabbing? Perhaps the shield could be drawn up by pressing both mouse buttons simultaneously

Well i havent read the whole thread because im a lazy *arstard. but i think the whole idea is the best thing since sliced bread.id love to see something like that in PS.but theres probably a %0 chance of it getting in. with all the work they\'ve done with the original combat system.

Fighting system posted here is good but it\'s complicated.
So if you want a simple one see Pirates Of Carribean. Just left click to attack and right click to block at least PS Team should implement this sys so we can have more control over our fight, not just see our player slashing and slashing and slashing and monster dying.

This\'ll make it more fun. I didn\'t like plane shifts combat system, it\'s like little strategy games, right click and see you\'r players attacking.

If planeshift devs have considered in detail whats the final combat system should be and what people like this all time waste shoulden\'t happen.

Or this combat sys maybe just implemented quickly so that people can start fighting as early as they can, and with a thought that it can be improved later, and i hope that it\'s like that.

You could cast spells by either right or left hand by just clicking up the target with cursor.. but i must say too that the battle system has already been created
