Doesnt wanna work

well i had this problem before but it healed itself after 3 days but this time it hasnt fixed itself for over a week now
the game usually loads once the music gets past that really loud part but now it just gets stuck and if i have the task manager open it always says \'not responding\'
i have tried the following things
*redownloading x2
*reinstalling x4
*running in safemode
*cancelling all programs running in the backround

but sometimes it does load but the loading screen music is still going and its just all still and frozen and the screen only changes if you click on it then wait for about 10 minutes

my system specs are
athlon amd processor 1.6 ghz
iwill motherboard (nobody has heard of it)
geforce 4 something something something (shouldnt matter since ps doesnt run in hardware mode right?)

oh, and i know its not just slow loading cuz i left it there for 3 hours once 8o

Maybe you don\'t have enough RAM to play?

When giving system specs, you might aswell not bother if you don\'t include everything and don\'t tell us their exact names. Saying \"I have a something something blah blah\" is no use to us.

That said, bear in mind that PS is a tech demo and will not run smoothly on all systems. If it has worked before, try to reproduce the conditions in which it worked and see if you\'re able to play.

It will also be helpful if you could tell us what those conditions were, if you find out, in order to give help to other people who may be experiencing similar problems.

i have 256 ddr ram
i usually play with open gl with 800-640 resolution
the game usually ran perfectly fine untill now

reproduce conditions? what do you meen by that?

Well, I mean try to get your system to the state it was in when PS worked. This could include what programs you have installed, driver versions, desktop/graphics settings, etc. You probably don\'t remember how it was, but it\'s worth a try. I\'m afraid that\'s all I can think of.

It\'s most likly lack of ram... PS needs about 400mb to play properly, so u\'ll need around 600-700mb to run 100% great.

1. PS uses hardware rendering

2. 256MB is a bit short for MB. MB taks around 200-300MB ram. CB will take more

3. 800x640.. Wired resolution. I bet you meant 800x600?

4. Tried to update the game? Run in window mode? Full-screen?

i only have 512 mb of ram i hope mine works good on cb ...... i can run like 2 clients at once on mb with little lag

well you guys are missing the point that it worked perfectly before. yes i did meen 800-600 and i always run the game in windowed mode with open gl at 800-600 resolution.

im sure nothing has been installed or changed since i installed ps.

Try to set the Screen Depth to 8 bit and play in windowed mode (or fullscreen if you can but you might not see the picture).
Should use less ram. this way it works on my notebook (only 256MB as well).

if you use 32bit Screen Depth, you also need more ram

meh, ill just start playing severance again till cb comes (hopefully i wont get the same problem with cb)

ok now i have figured out that my computer is having trouble connecting to the server not the game. this explains how the problem has been going away and coming back all the time. there must be a certain update or something that prevents me from reaching the server.
im not using any firewalls or anything like that
because of this i wont even be able to play cb ;(
i need help (severance got boring lol)
i use 56k if thats of any sugnificance
