water as a resource?
« on: February 19, 2004, 03:18:25 am »
ok.. everyones used to having food ingame but what about water

water could be got using a bucket or a well

water would be required in the following:

cooking
alchemey/herbology
water based magic (maybe)
building (for cement)
putting out fires
healing (maybe)
farming (if it doesnt rain for a while.. water yer fields)

might be nice to get thirsty occasionally too

also this would provide an alternative income for dwellers at the bottom levels... not every watery player wants to farm seaweed :P

Since I believe food is being included in-game, I\'m sure some drinks will be as well. As far as your idea\'s for uses, some are practical, some are not. The cement thing is not, I don\'t think we\'re going to be mixing mud and straw for bricks and I don\'t think you will have to mix you own cement. I mean, \'cmon, that would just be boring :P Magic, why would you need water for water based magic? You\'re supposed to be summoning it, remember? Farming it? I guess I need more details before I can critisize this one. Putting out fires...well maybe it could help for building repairs after a siege attack or something-I guess this one could work. Cooking and Alchemy-don\'t see what it would add to them but sure why not :)

I would like to see you have to drink and eat food every so often.

It would be based on a stat system kinda like is the sims, but it would take longer for your hunger and thirst to run out than the sims.

It would be good go down and eat some food at the shop, or cook your own.  the better the food the quiker it regeneratets your stats and so on....

Hungry or Thirsty you will walk slower and hit for less hitpoints

I think it would add a cool economic, roleplaying and realistic element to the gameplay, as long as it isnt too often, tedious and anoying.

anyways just my say in things.

good post and idea Deddarus
