expressional face textures
« on: February 25, 2004, 05:43:34 am »
depending on the character model texture setup this shouldnt be too hard to do..

for each character have a set of face textures eg:

normal
smiling/happy
angry
sad
confused

then have them user changeable... not really a big functional thing... but would help roleplay (more natural looking than typing \':)\' in the chatbox)

The internet is "the terrorists'" most important weapon, they say.
Wrong.
Fear is their most important weapon.
Ours is our freedom.

Awesome!
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Vengeance, how were you then planning to put them available to use? i mean, if you have to make expresions using chat like /angry, just like talking is now, it would be like everyone always has a very slow reaction after something is said or done.

i would imagine it owuld work best with buttons

ie

(Expression toolkit button) -> (Angry button)
...............................................(sad button)
...............................................(happy button)
...............................................(User preset#1)
...............................................(Fine tune button)
....................................................|
....................................................|
....................................................--->(fine tune button 1)
..........................................................(Fine tune button 2)

so in this way the player can easily switch expressions via a simple button menu, pre-define a new custom expression.. and fine tune an expression using all the variables seen on the demo

I am more thinking of how your expression would automatically change during actions... so you might look happy while greeting, angry while attacking, etc.

We could have keys/commands also for more elaborate RP.

Then imagine blending angry and scared as your HP goes down during the fight...  :-)

maybe you could plant in an engine like the one in Tactical Ops. That has a special engine on what you can define every button, and thus also make a button that when you pres it automaticly typs \"/shout HELP ME!!! MY ASS IS ON FIRE!!!! stupid fire elementals.....\"
It would also make moving easier, since you can define those controls to the buttons you like best. Also you can set your own mouse-speed when using mouselook, cause for my feeling the mouselook is extremely slow now. i am used to a 25.5 mousebutton, and in the game it moves like a 0.5 or so

Button:

I don\'t know how much I sould say about this.

It seems like you have a window with shortcut buttons in CB.

For more details build the cvs. :D

MouseLook:

look in the psclient.cfg file. there is a line like that:

MouseDriver.MouseSensivity = 1.0

Did you try to change that?

PS: is it just me or are we OT?
