I searched keyword mail and never found a already made thread so! I will make my own :)

    We should have a ingame newspaper type system created with current events, wartime news between guilds, market stuff, job offerings, wanted, etc...It would not only create a new feature but a new job and probally would create a new guild with it. If we could have it so whoever is the author of the paper could actually create the paper in game and just type it in a text box and then approve it to go that would be a cool thing. It could cost like 5 ruby a paper and it would be released like once a day or once a week doesn\'t matter, and it wouldn\'t cause a problem in inventory if they would stack like crystals and then you just double click on the newspaper item and it would say how many you have and the dates on each so you can keep a track on events from the past.
Then a portion of the money used to buy a newspaper could go into a town box, it would automatically transfer there and then you could set up a lottery system and the winnings would be whatever was made up from the newspaper + lottery ticket buys in the game!

I know it is primitive explanation, but if this is a idea that would be looked into for future releases i would be glad to explain the ENTIRE system.

Why did you search for \"mail\" when you\'re talking about a \"newspaper\"? If you had searched on that term, you would\'ve returned hundreds of discussions.

a mail system would be cool though. Sending telegrams and letters... A bit like the e-mail system in neocron, of course thats set in the future... so i guess since we are in the past the mail would acctually have to take time to arrive. But then i guess people would just use the OOC channel, or the player to player help channel, or the guild channel, or whatever so they can talk to people miles away instantaneously, which is hardly true to reality... i mean maybe if you are a high level mage... nevermind

this is yet another thing that i believe would be ebst left to a guild to perform

ie. u give the guild a player name + rough location/location of house & a parcel & some payment.... they make the trip

well I\'m not sure if I\'d trust some guild to transport important things. Especially if I\'d see recruiting newbs...

well then they can\'t recruit newbs, because newbs might get bored and not even deliver the message --> rep goes down
but they won\'t recruit anyone else, because every newb there is will be recruited by mass-recruitment guilds :P

or they could have a system of increasing responsability with rank and members having to prove themselves to climb the ranks

ie

lvl1 would only get unimportant tasks
lvl9 would  be charged with transporting the deed for a castle

Well Newspapers would be very good for roleplaying, whoever controls the paper can control Propaganda! Propaganda is a strong tool for real life and probally for a mmorpg to :)

Well, this is sort of on-topic and off-topic, but couldn\'t there be a way to buy/rent NPC and use that as a mailman? A never sleeping/tiring workman.

Yes there probally could be but I wonder how they would script that AI on the MailMan NPC because it would not be set to go to one place everytime would have to probally go to multiple places.

actually there arent too many. Just mine and about 2 other peoples. Its a nice idea which i would love to see implemented. If it was my class might just change from animal trainer to newspaper editor. That would be a fun job...
