DirectDraw and/or graphics programs.

Ok, so i\'m trying to run again this game. I dled it, i installed it, now i run it, but it says \"Can\'t create directDraw device\". That\'s on the safe(slow) mode. Then i try OpenGL mode, but i get to the menu and i can only see these three buttons on a white background, and nothing else happens. I want to know:
a) How can i get this DirectDraw thing to work?
b) How can i get any other graphics program, good enough to work with PS the proper way?

Update your graphics card drivers and make sure you have the latest DirectX version (currently 9b).

No it doesn\'t.
Both are free

Drivers are so called Forceware and is most likely to be free,
and DirectX from Microsoft is also free (so far)
