War between nations?
« on: March 11, 2004, 05:27:56 am »
This would definately make a very exciting game. Lets say there are two towns or so, or maybe some kinda town filled with lepers and demons, whatever. Every two months or so there would be war against the town, the gates would be locked, archer would take place upon the walls.

The fighter who bagged the most people in the game would have the option of being general or taking command of an army or something to defend, and position people. Players should have the option of being soldiers for this general. If invaders get it, they set fire, pillage and rape, loot, blah blah, you get the point.

Players should have the option of joining enemy towns, but if they were to return they would be traitors and publicly hung. Which brings up another topic. A leader would be elected, that would make the laws, hang the people, send people to prison in which case they would be able to make riots in the prison with enough organization.

Which also brings up thieving ( I know theres a forum for this, but bear with me). Thieving should be a LOT harder than it sounds, if you see a thief you can shout THIEF! And NPC gaurds would come out of nowhere, or perhaps gaurds would notice you and throw you in the dungeon. Lockpicking, should be an option, and an underground \'Thieves Guild\' should be formed as well. Players should also have the option of being gaurds, who would also be reserves for the army.

Sorry to rant, I just had to get out all those ideas before I\'d forget \'em.

I had almost all of these idea\'s in my mind too, only abit different and I thought let\'s not post it becuase it probably already suggested :)

I thought about the following:

One kingdom with humans, here will be some rules, ofcourse stealing is not allowed, and when you steal you could typ \"Guards\" (just like Ulima Online) and if there\'s an NPC near the thief, this guard will try to kill the thief, OR Take him to prison!

In the kingdom of the humans will be prisons, magic will NOT be allowed! Only a few weapons will be legal, these will be sold in shops in that kingdom! Others that you will find in quests or somthing will not be allowed, and when you wear these in town others can call guards on you! When you\'re in prison you can\'t come out of it, others need to release you! If you want you can become a guard too, but when you break rules as guard you\'ll be publicly executed :P by trowing you to the lions, and everybody will look how you\'re dying! (maybe you could make something that you\'re account will get deleted when your executed so you must REAL look out!) You can ONLY be a human when you begin in this kingdom (if you choose a human-player you\'ll begin in this kingdom)

You an also choose a monster, when you do this you\'ll start on another place! Here you will NOT have any guards! Here will live monsters, thieves that are marked as criminals (to hide themselves so they won\'t get arrested) etc. Here you can buy lots of illigal weapons! So you could try to buy some weapons here and than sell them in the other \"kingdom\", but if someone knows you\'re doing this you\'re in trouble! In the first kingdom with humans you may NOT kill or attack any other humans, if you do you\'ll be marked as criminal and people can call guards on you! In the other place (with monsters and criminals) there no rules and you may just kill people there :) You MAY kill monsers when you\'re in the first kingdom! And thieves!

This looks pretty much to an other cool 2D game I played, I thikn it would be pretty cool :)

Right, yes. All very nice ideas, but let\'s be realistic. CB is idolised atm, but even it won\'t be able to support such things. Perhaps in a future release, hmm?

There\'ll be wars between guilds. I think all the wars should be player-decided. Wars between towns would be nice, sure, but if players (guilds) can take control of towns then fight between them to gain more land and power, this will be really great. Although, this has been discussed many times before and if i remember devs aren\'t really for letting players run governements and things like that.

yes, ok, but I think the following things could be cool:

- Thieves,
pickpocketing, when you fail and they will nkow your stealing you can call guards and they will kill/jail you

- Able to be an guard,
You can kill/jail criminals and you\'ll get paid for it or somtihng

- Criminals
As soon as you killed a non-criminal for no reason, stealed something whatever you\'ll be marked as criminal, guards can be called on you, to lose this status you can pay some money at a church, and pay off your crimes, just like they did that a long time ago :P

Well there should be some kinfd of leading criminal organization, like some kind of mob that deals in illegal goods ( illegal weapons, potions, stolen items). Drugs would be sweet but only for the sole purpose of trading, I don\'t see what player would wanna buy them.

\"Look before you post...\"

There are at least 3 or 4 other posts on war!

Read at least the first and third link. War has been discussed in great detail, and we oldies are getting rather irritated at all these new occurances of posts on war. And only guild wars will occur. Anything I add here would only be a copy of what has been already discussed.

As for drugs and drug lords, I am in agreement with Sir Fishy. Having illegal items in the game might promote bad habits in players, and drugs, if implemented as useless items, would quickly be taken out of the game as they give no actual practical trading value. Trading useless items that don\'t even make people look better (jewelry, for example) won\'t make many people happy.

Ive been noticing a lot of posts along these lines.  Guild wars while the concept sounds interesting, boils down to a bunch of people NOT roleplaying. hmmmm interesting idea, from my experience in D&D a typical session involved (mind you this is at the beginning of a quest) going to a town and talking to anyone that we could, to try to get info on an obscure person or item. Then a journey to a location, sometimes took days (in real life) where a couple of times we would battle various npc\'s or monsters.  It seems that these days that the emphasis is on mindless hack and slash eye candy.  Sorry went on a rant, also read around before you post, yeah I\'m a noob, but I also trounced around the forums for a month before I posted.  Knowledge is power, but wisdom is the big stick.  hey I just found my sig. oh well just my 2 cents.

Town Guild Wars?
« Reply #12 on: March 14, 2004, 12:19:11 am »
i think guild wars shouldnt be so extensive so that whole TOWNS should be involved in guild wars, as someone said before im not sure who, i think that guild wars should be like gang wars only MUCH BIGGER such as in Gangs of New York in the beggining when they met in that Five Corner Sq. or whatever it was called like great big hundreds of people in the city attacking each other, people on the street stabbing each other in the neck et cetera. aint it great :D

you cant see it with your eyes, hold it with your hand, like the wind it covers all land, this thing called love.

Yeah, I can see the story now.
On the Open Fields they gathered, one guild to the north, the other to the south.  Both armies ammassed in the thousands the like that has never been seen.  For a moment they observed each other, taunting and hurling insults at each other.  The Air was thick with the smell of sweat, oil, and leather.  And then, all was silent, even the wind gave up it\'s pitiful breeze that caused the once proud standards to droop.  Then without a single command given, both armies gave forth a mighty cry and sprinted towards each other... And disapeared as the server crashed.  Those that were lucky were only lagged badly and were able to recover later, but many were lost that day, the day the Guilds Went to War.

don\'t take it personal just thought it would be funny.
*puts tongue in cheek*
maybe I\'ll do the entire story in the story forum.
