.exe error
« on: March 13, 2004, 07:48:46 pm »
I downloaded everything (gods but that took awhile) and when I was done I clicked on the runmefirst and then the .exe that came up. It didn\'t work. So I tried to use the tool thing, but it flashes on my screen faster than I can recognize it as what it is and dies again. Like a failed telnet link. So.... Now what? Redownload everything?

There\'s a specific way of using the MD5 signature checker, but someone else will have to explain that because I\'ve never used/needed to use it before myself.

You could try deleting the .exe file and start that bit again, or (if you\'re running WinXP) set the compatability for the .exe file to Win2000 or Win98, and see if that helps.

If all else fails, you can download the precompiled file here. This is the .exe file that the .bat file creates, so be warned, as it\'s pretty big.

Edit: Also, here\'s a tip that may help you further- do not use a download manager to get these files. If you do, do not pause the files while they\'re being downloaded as this can easily lead to receiving corrupt data and you\'ll have to start all over again.

Good luck. :)

MD5 and Telnet have 1 thing in common:

Both are Console Applications.
That means,  they run completly in a console (cmd on Windows XP)

3 ways to get this working:
1. In file properties, set it to don\'t close the window

2. Create an empty text document and add the following:
md5 *.*
pause

I think it was like that, save and rename to md5.bat

3. Run in CMD

I would like to thank you both. I elected to go the route of the uberlarge download. Mostly because it took about the same amount of time to do it yesterday, but a little more because it was in parts. That and I\'m already running Win2000 which I neglected to mention. And the almost-technobabble frightened me. ^^;
