Planeshift 2D
« on: March 19, 2004, 03:37:12 am »
I was just wondering what happened to the orignal Planeshift (the 2D one that I hear things about).
What was it about, what did it look like.
Is there anyone who could tell me a little bit about it and maybe post a screenshot or 2 because I\'m rather curious.

i have no idia... i have never heard of it.... maby you miss heard???

If it does exist... maby the devs could release it just to keep people bussy until CB comes?

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

PlaneShift 2D was the first incarnation of the game since it began development in \'94. They wouldn\'t be able to release it now because it would need a server and everything for people to connect to. Besides, not even Talad has it anymore.

I mean... wow.  I like to spend time trying to visualize shapes with more than 3 spatial dimensions.  But you know, I\'d just have trouble keeping track of 20 of them.  There\'s no real good reason for it, though... I mean, it\'s just taking expansion from x-dimensions to x+1-dimensions and iterating it all the way to x=20... but I\'m still having trouble picturing a 20 dimensional \"cube\" (or whatever it would be called) in my mind.

In theory everything that is 3d is infiniteD. after 3rd deminsion human eyes cant interpret the aspects of the other deminsions.and if your thinking well if i cant see them there not there. well if you cant see them doesnt mean something else cant see them.

and snowraven your wrong. a 3d dice has 6 sides. if it was 20d it would be greater then 20 sides.
***EDIT still high. oh and i think it would have 40 sides.

yes a 3d dice is a 6 sides dice but so has a 6d dice

for the simple reason there is no 3 sided 3D object
3d just means a 6d dice with a roll of
1,2 = 1
3,4 = 2
5,6 = 3

The first PlaneShift was a MUD IIRC.

hmm are you sure he would throw away his work.

I don\'t want to play, it I just wanted to know what it was like and maybe see what it was like, it would be interesting.

Talad has it somewhere, he told me. However, both the client and server is in Italian, and it\'s difficult to set up so it works (that\'s what he told me), so just keep playing 3D instead. :)

By the way, about the dices stuff.

The number before the D indicates how many dices to roll, and the number after the D indicates how many sides the dice has, therefor 20D means 20 dices, not a 20-sided dice. :)
