running super slow please help
« on: March 20, 2004, 01:36:17 am »
Hi,

I just started the game and it runs at a snails pace, takes 5 minutes ot shout, 5 minutes to take oen step, then usually just locks up and crashes.

The problem I see, is that it is taking up like 200 thousand cpu usage, which bogs down my whoel computer..it shouldn\'t be takign up this much should it?

ah, well.. I do see many have this problem, no fix for it..guess I\'ll just have to wait for a better version to play. Looks cool so i\'ll be checking back often, hoping for good release.

What is your OS? Windows? Linux? Do you have the latest gfx drivers installed?
Although your gfx card is lame it should be  sufficent to play  PS without too much lag. But sometimes even the high-end  computers are lagged  to death for 15 minutes.  Just wait for a while until the Lagbeast\'s attack  is over ;)

xp pro, and  the card does its job, it can handle swg with all the settings maxed out with no prob..be an idiot to pay more for a \"better\" card. not my fault if people love to toss companies more money then they have to.

I agree with you monkgamer, a mid-end graphics card is more than enough (soon to buy a radeon 9600xt myself).

One of the last things programmers do with a finished game is performance optimization. So that would be the reason why it is so heavy on everyone\'s machine.

I don\'t think there is a way to fix lag, but to reduce it is a possibility.
I made a thread about a way ro reduce lag.I can\'t tell you right here,but I can here: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=8291&boardid=1&sid=12c48279216eaf7d0042946209269f9c&page=1#8
