Hey everyone... when I first found this game\'s website it all seemed too good to be true. I guess I have a few general questions about the game and the community. First of all... is all parts of this game done on a volunteer basis? The image I\'m getting so far is that there is a core group of paid staff... and that there are a lot of contributions from the community. I guess my second question is how long has this game been in development, and about how long will it take to reach the point where developers believe they are done their work?

Anyway... the game looks awesome so far but it does feel lacking in many aspects because... its obviously not finished yet. It looks like it has amazing potentual. It almost makes me want to learn how to mod and etc... so I can help make development go faster... almost. : D

Another question I forgot to ask... if this game is free how will it be paid for? I guess I\'m pretty much concerned for the developers. Because if the game starts charging... or out of business... I can\'t play it anymore. Will there be a premium account that requires donations or anything like that?

just edit your posts if you forgot to add something. this is a MMORPG, massively multi-player online role playing game, wich means it will never be finished per say they will always be adding new stuff, getting rid of bugs et cetera.
the game is sponsored by some company i cant remember the name of at the moment.

The game is currently in beta... when it finishes its \"beta\" it will be \"done\" (according to me anyway). Is there any clue or indication of how far off that day is?

Correction, the game is pre-alpha.  Which is before alpha, which is before beta.  It won\'t be going beta for a long time.  As in greater than one year most likely.  And the game will never be completed as they will always be adding things to it.

MMORPGs can be finished. The developers decide that they\'ve coded enough to allow the game to survive as is and allow the players to make their own creations if they want to. Of course, I don\'t believe this will happen with PS.

in some moment they\'ll pass all those alphas and betas and release the full version of Planeshift under code name.... Uber Blue
But they won\'t stop working on it and Planeshift will keep growing... you know... like linux.
I just wonder if they\'ll be making new Blue names after that...

Nope, noone gets paid for doing it. This game will be 100% free. And its open-source.... The servers are donated, or sponsored. If you want to donate then good, but you wont gain any advantages(well, maybe a tag over your head, who knows...) No company develops this game, but ppl all over the world.

EDIT: Gumster.... arnt you a Whemyfield clone?

Actually, the Devs have been thinking of calling CB beta, because it has so much stuff in it, but that all depends on what gets done. Chances are the release after CB will be beta, but you never know. ;)

By Whemy clone i mean - you are mainly writting nonsense. :D
And it dosnt matter that this release is pre-aplha. But about beta, dunno... from what i know its ready game, that still just be tested before releasing the final version. That would mean that everything what was planed would come in this release.

i do not mainly write nonsense, and i think i read somewhere that it will be at least a year (or two?) \'till the game will be finished(?( i think ).
i mean that they will release the final version and only update it once in a while(like most MMORPG\'s) .
