building, houses, city laws
« on: April 07, 2004, 02:00:33 am »
are there going to be any laws in the cities? how will they work? it would be cool to have to escape the guards after commiting a crime in the city...

what about building....if players could build their own houses everyone would have a building.... that isnt possible...takes too much room... there should be a way for people to contact the planeshift team and ask them to create one...but they would need good reasons .. for guilds or jobs buisnesses.... then they should just create side buildings like apartments....

Eight dignitaries called \"Octarchs\" rule the city; each of them supervises and is responsible for one level of Yliakum. Together they form the \"Circle of the Octarchs\" or \"Internal Circle\", that takes decisions regarding all the people living in the city.

Immediately under an Octarch there are twenty \"Vigesimi\", high civil servants that deal with law and order. There are 160 \"Vigesimi\" in total and they form the \"External Circle\". At the beginning of every year there is a meeting of all Octarchs and Vigesimi that lasts for several months. In this event they evaluate all expenses and revenue of the previous year, all complaining, problems, etc... Vigesimi normally come from the Craft Guilds of each level, and their position is hereditary. Nevertheless is not too rare to find some high citizens that are elected thanks to people acclamation, taking place of Vigesimi that are dead, that are judged inept or that are found to be guilty of thievery.

At the beginning of every season takes place the meeting of all Vigesimi of a level, generally (but not always) directed by the Octarch. During these short meetings the members of the External Circle can elect a new Octarch if the previous is dead or too old. An Octarch can\'t be removed, nevertheless in some cases the Octarch was assassinated because it was too cruel, inept, dishonest, etc... One of the most famous cases is the one of Fertedian Dalko, Octarch of the 4th level, that was tied to a hypnotized Megaras and sent straight towards the Crystal.

Off the main site...people should look there more often

The only thing we know for sure is that you won\'t be able to assasinate people...

Post your opinions in the PVP and Thieving Section, but it is already decided that we will not be able to kill other people without them knowing/accepting a duel or being in some sort of Arena.

Bah that whole thing I just read sounds so mmm its not the kind of answer I was looking for, not that I asked the question! I wanna know about town security, local armys of the city, the kind of laws made (will they relate to real time laws in the sense that they don\'t make sense and are made to benefit the higher class people?) Will there be jails and work labor camps you are sent to? You can work your debt away or whatever and can\'t leave until you do a certain ammount of work?

And than you would be killed almost instantly because no matter how strong you are you can\'t kill a few hundred soldiers on your own or with a small group.

what about THIS idear-using as few npcs as possable so that most of the inhabatants(leaders-quest givers- and so on)are ACTUAL HUMANS(real life humans-not planeshift humans)
(modifyed saying)
Fame is easy,cheap, and fleeting
But Greatness is hared, work, lonely, humbling, and lats for ever
do you want Greatness?

Actually I was thinking if they had local NPC armies for each town! They can make it so some towns etc like capturable towns have rules against bearing arms inside the town! Then if you are seen by a npc from that town and you have a sword out or something a few soliders or something will come to stop you! Maybe first ask you to remove your arms and if you move ahead they fight you, then if there was a higher ammount of people entering the town with arms in a group say a guild army then a ton of npc soliders would take arms to defend the town or city!

They could even strategize by having a certain ammount going onto the walls of the town as archers and then have a offensive meelee group and defensive with pikes and stuff! Whoever runs that town like say they made a player chief or whatever he could raise taxes on the stuff sold in that town and use that money to buy new soliders to fight for the town!
Its all so complicated and not possible at the moment but would be so much fun :D!!
