Get a grip. If people are prepared to modify code to get the advantage over you, then they\'ll think nothing of swiping a crystal from under your nose. You\'d better get used it, because there are far worse tactics going on out there than just picking up a crystal that you have \'claimed\'. Very sad, but very true.

what \'bout they have it so once the monster dropped the item only the player what killed it (or did the most harm to it) can see (and pick up) the loot for oh lets say, one minute?
no worries eh? :)

WOOHOO I have never had this happen to me cause...I RULE and the only times I pick up a crystal that somebody is standing over I just give it to them cause...I RULE
But, yeah with players like Zetsumei and...and...and...well yeah Zetsumei you will have to get used to completely dishonorable things happening to you.  Luckyly I am here to counter act Zetsumei with my obvious honorability and beauty

One issue is lag.  The person with the faster machine and faster connection will always have the advantage here.  The power gamer with their \"I just got it\" technology will always beat out the \"it is old but it works\" crowd.  If you implement a lock out feature on the object selection you will still loose, because when you go to click on the object the faster machine will still get there first.

The other issue is community.  If you would like PS to be just like all the other MMORPG\'s out there, then the I got there first attitude is just fine.  If PS is to be truely different then some sort of edicate should be created and enforced by the community.

Hmm, I can already see the topic careening off the cliff and making that nice whistling sound before its crashed into the ground below throwing up a cute little puff of dust.  :D

Simple, monsters die, fall down, and you loot their corpse, until you finish looting/and or after a time limit the monster\'s corpse dissapears. When you kill the monster you own the corpse, so you won\'t have to worry about that. Which can also make a nice opportunity for a skill that lets you get more pelts/meat/money/items from the monster. And, is more realistic.

This of course doesn\'t stop kill-stealing, butI\'m sure the devs are highly aware of this flaw in nearly every other mmorpg ever made.

Rakel, I\'m glad you made a complaint about the crystals robbed from you. It happens a lot more than is reported. People who rob crystals should be punished but we don\'t have a working weapons system yet so all you can do right now is complain here and in game. I strongly recommend complaining in game the moment it happens. If there is any doubt in your mind whether the person was thieving, ask him by using /tell . If his response is sincere then you know it was a probably glitch or another kind of honest error. If his response is full of crap, announce his name with /shout and demand your crystal back. This might get him to return the crystal, might not, but it does put the fool on notice and it alerts other players that he\'s around.

It is not human nature to steal. Human nature is largely a learned thing so if someone steals something from you it\'s because he thinks it is morally acceptable. I don\'t and will complain about it even if it\'s just one ruby. Every crystal will be credited to our accounts and exchanged for tria come CB, right? So why should I stop whinning and \"take it like a man\" when someone steals my money?

Someone being faster than you is not thievery. It\'s someone being faster than you. Ripping decorations is thievery. But I haven\'t been to any parties lately, and I\'m sure the new GMs are not easy on party poopers.

Anyway, all that\'s said has been said, let\'s move on with on lives.

EDIT: the guy above me made valid points against my case... ;(

It\'s a crystal. It will be exchanged for some ridiculously small sum of money. it\'s not in human nature to steal, but if someone sees a crystal and takes it, they aren\'t paying attention to people nearby. The person losing the crystal is the only one that might think \"hey, that was mine?\" But it wasn\'t yours. It was on the ground. Some nice people will respect your proximity, but it isn\'t a neccessity, and it isn\'t a moral guideline thingy.

And when I was an annoying little n00blett I whined about my crystal and nice big boy Draklar gave me one. :]  So, become an annoying n00blett and whine to Draklar. Problem solved.

It\'s mildly amusing to see how many people have mentioned me specifically on this particular issue.

Firstly, it\'s impossible to steal something that has never been in your possession to begin with.  It\'s not illegal.  Admittedly, it\'s not the nicest thing to do, but it\'s not illegal.  It can be likened to shopping out of other people\'s shopping carts.

As for me being dishonorable scum...well, it\'s all a matter of opinion.  I do have morals, ethics, a code of honor, but I\'ve always been and oddball and a rebel, so they\'re...more warped than the norm, but they do exist.  I do have honor, but I may not seem honorable to most.

As for the thieving issue, I don\'t pick up greeted crystals (unless it\'s a diamond), and I occasionally greet a crystal someone\'s standing over, and then wait 3-5 seconds for them to pick it up; if they can\'t, it\'s mine.  And besides, I haven\'t been hunting in over a week for...personal reasons...*cough*

And as typical with most people who have a reputation that precedes them, most people make assumptions about you without bothering to actually confirm them by conversing with you.  Double checking your convictions against others never hurts...I think.

Oh, and Mordaan, you should be afraid...very afraid ^^
There's a fine line between genius and insanity.

Fortunately, I have good balance.

Lol I remember the first time it happened to me. I couldn\'t stop laughing for about a minute. I was walking along in one of the dungeon\'s corridors when I see a ruby on the ground. I walk over to it to pick it up, all cool and slick, when suddenly some Ynnwn comes up behind me and grabs the ruby. So I said, \"Ahem.\" and he said, \"SALUT!!\" and ran off.

Well, it was incredibly funny at the time, imagining some french guy going \"SALUT!\" all happy to be making a new friend.

Anywho, I don\'t think it\'s that much of a problem. You can still make money in CB after all, so no worries, right? :)

I really don\'t get why this is a problem, someone comes up and \"steals\" a cyrstal in front of you. How is that stealing? You haven\'t picked it up yet, so its not yours. I don\'t get it...and it really doesn\'t matter anyway. Even if it were a diamond, 100 tria won\'t be worth that much in CB...

I think I agree with the people who don\'t think it is stealing.  No one owns it.  Pick it up quickly.  :-)

This is an irresponsible piece of advice that encourages us to stalk players who are adept at finding crytsals or not very skilled at picking them up, like new players.

Rakel was talking about crystals that you are obviously  attemting to pick up, not any crystal on the map.

If someone wants to argue that this kind of disruption of the way the game is actually played by the vast majority of players is role playing, I would laugh. But ok, maybe it is. However, the crystal thieves I\'ve met in Planeshift are just selfish pigs taking advantage of people in a very OCC way.

I think most people in this thread who told Rakel to pipe down have a lot of crystals. I wonder what they would say if they had none.   8o 8)

Life isn\'t fair. If you are walking toward a monster to kill, and someone runs out of the trees and kills it before you, do you say \"hey that was my monster I was going to kill\", was it your monster? Did you own it? No, it was sitting there for anyone to kill. The crystals are out there for everyone to take, If you are too slow, thats your problem. Enough said, this whole discussion is childish and stupid.

And just for the record, I do not have very many crystals.

i\'m kind of on zetsumeis side with this...i don\'t find him to be dishonorable at all in fact i find it fun to try and get the crystal before he does and if he get\'s it first then it\'s his....i have to admit that the first time someone took a crystal i was about to pick up it pissed me off. but then i realised how stupid it was for me to get mad over something i can\'t even hold in my hand\'s and i started to laugh....now when someone does it i just go off and try to find another..........

i have not been on for awhile so i will take this time to say hello to some of the peep\'s that i have met.
hello karyuu...bora....zetsumei...fenrison...and all the other\'s too many to mention here  :D
