IN Game Shops...
« on: April 11, 2004, 12:41:37 am »
I dont know about other people but i dont like going to shops that are on a web site.. how bout some in game shops.. like maybe you could walk up to a guy and ask him what hes selling then a window pops up and you click or somehow select what you want ... if you have enough money ...then baM!!! its in your inventory..

Also some armor would be nice.. and differant classifications of armor like armor for men and armor for other creatures...

just one last thing.... i think things are priced to high.. like for a beer mug.. 500 rubys......LOL thats crazy.. ive been playing a week and i only have 26 and some emeralds..

Thats what id like to see in the new edition... and like everyone else id like for there to be no more lagg... but im sure you can fix that...

Thank you ...
VENOMEDROP

Also does anyone like my siggy..?  I just made it..

Crystals will no longer be used for currency in CB, nor will there be shops on the website that boast extremely expensive prises...

I like your idea Venom, a player should be able to go into \"Autoshop\" mode. Thus saving the pain of missing a buyer, or seller. Something like you have your general wares displayed above your head in a small sentence. You set your prices for your items, the money goes into your pocket. Simple as that. Maybe you can even set an item to buy from a player, like potions, or food and such.

you guys do realize that this isnt even the actual currency, or shop....and that everything you are currently doing on mb wont have much effect on your future right?   i think the shops were going to be handled by players...they dont want to use a lot of npcs.....

anyway the point is that this stuff is just for fun at the moment.....there arent any real things to do.... jusst collect crystals and get useless weapons...and i doubt that they will use the webpage once they actually get the money and equipment and items in the game itself

tought there will have to be npc\'s, like you need someplace to sell all your unwanted goods. dont think you can sell everything you have fast when only place to sell to is real-players. also shops should be handeld by players, and at least 1 npc since there wont always be players arround.

I like the idear that shops are run by players but I\'m really against a \"autoshop mode\" funktion.

My sister is playing Lineage2 (they have such a mode there) and when you come to an ig shop there are already 30 players sitting around it, every one in \"autoshop mode\" and afk. Its such an odd situation, 30 players sitting on the floor everyone with a message above their head.... sounds more like a kind of powergaming for craftsman only that you are gaining money - evan overnight.

Naturelly you can sell more items that way, but in my eyes is has nothing to do with rpg anymore...

What about the Trading job? A merchant could buy the \"unwanted\" goods of players and sell them to those who need it, naturelly with some sort profit. A travelling merchant would be a nice addition to the game I think.

honestly , i have played a lot of mmoprg , and i swear than for some reason that i dont fell to explain right now cause my keyboard is fsked , and it s too tiring to type ( it avoid the use of a mule or  to play 2 characer at once, it reduce downtimes when gaming ), it s really better to be able to set your character in a merchant mode , or be able to rent an NPC who sell your items for you.
I did finaly found a work :))

hm... I always liked using a mule when I played a merchant or craftsman ;)

When I use lets say three hours to create items and then put my char in autoshop mode overnight, the entire work is done. But where is than the fun part of being a merchant?

I\'m playing a merchant so that I don\'t have to fight whole day long.... I\'m doing it becourse I can interact with other players instat of slaying stupid NPC, I simply want to do some sort of rp.
When I\'m online I can sell my stuff myself, putting my char in autoshop mode is only for gaining money... what comes next? an \"autofight mode\" so that also fighters can fight along when they are afk?

Just playing a merchant for gaining gold is ....annoying, I don\'t have to play a mmorpg for this, an economy simulation would also do it...

why cant there just be a shop run by a npc to whom you can sell goods. the goods you sell will then be stored in the shop for others to buy. To make sure the shop doesn\'t get overcrowded by goods there would be a item reset every 6 hours, making the shops inventory totally empty and putting back the starting equipment (like the simple weps or the basic healing potions) ofcourse there could be player merchants and so, but there should be some place where you can sell everything fast, cause when you are a fighter, you dont want to sit arround several hours untill everything is sold.

The truth is i wouldnt wanna play as a merchant im realy into the building of the character type thing... thats why i play rpgs.. but i must admit that the current version of ps is not that fun ... but since i love the graphics and i know the devs are working hard on an update im going to stand my ground and wait for the new version... HOPEFULLY there wont be the lagg problem Next version... But back on topic .. i think that a traveling merchant would be a great idea since you could meet him wherever and not have to travel all the way back to town... Also what about a bank type thing... that would be cool .. like say to store your money so you dont lose it in battle. or for something of that nature...

a traveling merchant is only less convenient since you dont know where is he when you want to sell stuff. walking back to town can be a pain in the *ss, but at least then you dont walk arround for hours searching the merchant.

There will be *many* ways to implement merchant-type characters in PS, it won\'t even be funny.

For now, we\'ve heard some discussions about the possibility for users entering \"merchant mode,\" which will be visible in game as some sort of flag or other means of identification, and can then set up which items they wish to sell and prices for each.  While this sounds like a good idea, we get to the arguments where people fight all day, store up their loots, then come back to town and go to NPC mode to get maximum profits.  But this isn\'t the way it should work; fighters should fight and merchants should sell goods.

We know that at some point in the future, there will be player-owned shops (because I will have my own :)), and player can set the kinds of goods they want to buy/sell and prices and all that kind of good stuff.  Since merchants *probably* don\'t want to spend all day in the shop, they will probably have an option to hire an NPC merchant to watch the shop for them.

Venomdrop, if you\'re really interested in the topic, search the forums for other merchant-related threads.  There are several of them, and many contain good arguments and suggestions.
