Illegal Items
« on: April 12, 2004, 12:13:09 am »
Ok I know this is probally a long shot from ever happening but I still think its a good idea and maybe you will to :D

There should be illegal items put in-game to make PS go in a frenzy, these items would be illegal to carry  in certain villages and cities! If caught in sight by a NPC or town guard you can be seized and have to go to battle against the attacking security if you lose, bye bye you go to jail until you have worked off your crimes or released by a Human player!

The illegal items should be very valuable in quests and in battle but so illegal that you would have to choose carefully how you travel avoiding certain villages and cities that denounce these items!

Suspicious NPCs.
You pay the same price for doing something halfway as for doing it completely. So you might as well do it completely.

If possible, most illegal items very good and somewhat cheap.  Obviously, this is because the people just want to get rid of it.  Also, it should be only accessable through the black market.  I\'m not talking pathetic Runescape guards who can be killed easily.  I\'m talking tough, burly guards you want to avoid and not mess with.

Maybe theft could be integrated into Planeshift also.  If you steal something in close proximity to a guard, he blows his horn and chases you. :p

if its sold by the black market the price might be high but maybe for a normal guy who doesnt really want trouble will sell it for very little....that would be great to be able to walk into town and automatically get into fights because your item is illegal...wait will you be able to kill them? and how strong are these going to be? they would either have to be too strong or really offending..... then when the guards defeaet you they can throw you into jail....

If it\'s hidden (i.e. in a backpack or other container), the NPCs shouldn\'t be able to tell what it is.  On the other hand if you\'re stupid and you take out that greek fire and pour it on the street, the guards are going to notice.  And I agree; in two months of playing the-game-that-shall-not-be-named, i could kill the guards in one hit.

Let\'s make these guards equivalent to level eighty characters with top notch gear and make it so that they travel in patrol groups of 3-5.  :D

As far as prices go; they will be EXTREMELY high, simply because it is illegal.  There\'s a lot of risk being involved in producing, smuggling, and even selling the items.  Maybe we could implement a reward system for players assisting the NPCs in finding dealerships for these items.

you mean just give the guards a lot of skill in weapons and fighting?

normal npcs that may have found them lying around probably wouldnt want them.... maybe there should be npcs that walk around and randomly plpace them in a persons bag...but that would be rare

No these items should be so valuable and rare that people are GOING to pick them up and avoid the trouble just to make a profit off it or use it in some sort of quest! I think it needs to be taken to the extreme!

I think their should deffinitely be drugs, legal (alchol and maybe snuff powder or something). And also illegal drugs, there should be a large blackmarket for artifacts, stolen art, drugs, and even slaves. This market should be highly profitable but also incredibly dangerous and cuthroat.

Also items like thieves\' tools, lockpicks, potions of invisibility...basically anything that would obviously be used for theft...

Maybe if we have illegal drugs in the game, there can be an addiction factor, so that if a character gets addicted to a certain illegal substance, he HAS to have within a certain amount of time or else he suffers penalties. There could also be in-game rehab clinics.
