Knomder & Zeus
« on: April 16, 2004, 11:08:52 pm »
Hello people of Planeshift! Me and my friend, Zeus (you all know Zeus right?) have decided to help the poor, by giving them an opportunity to get rich in no-time.
\"Knomder and Zeus\" is a betting organization that focuses on leading controlled duels. To make things easy for all parts, we have decided to use a balance system for the betting. This means that the total amount of money placed on each player must be equal. This means that one player can bet a 100 on a fighter while two players can bet 50 each on the other.
As the organization leading the betting we take our share which is 10% of all bets.
Even the fighters deserve their share, which consists of 5%.

So why would you want to place your bettings through us? Because we make sure that the winner receives his money! We also give you the opportunity to challenge someone without having to organize a fight by yourself.

Rules: A fight is between 2 individuals ONLY! Any person breaking this rule is to be hunted down and killed.
The fight lasts until a fighter gets killed or declares forfait. If a fighter leaves the fighting pit he is declared loser of the fight.

SystemThe bets are sent to either me or my associate using the buddy system. We note down how much you\'ve sent us and make sure you get your share if you win.

Nice idea. Recently i placed a topic in general discussion about organizing contests of multiple players with one winner. Maybe you guys could organize that as well and earn money through entering fees and or bets.

well we actually plan to organize a \"Last Man Standing\" once in a while, where any person who wants to join has to pay an entry fee. Everybody fight and the last man standing gets the sum of the entry fee\'s paid. Betting while still be available for specators using the normal system.

Thanx a lot for your tip Ionas! ;)

(try reading Redmonk backwards) :D
Can\'t believe I blew my cover on the second post hehe

You should offer larger purses for the fighters. Otherwise you won\'t get the best fighters and you won\'t draw a big crowd. Fighters can still organize their own betting on the side - even thrown matches if they are clever enough. But at 5% will any of the best fighter bother to use your service when they can set up their own. I realise that you promise to run the whole match, even hunt down and kill rule breakers but still, only 5%?

I get your point but the money\'s gotta go somewhere. We could give them a greater share but that would discourage people from betting...since the odds will be bad. The idea is that many fights shall be between to enemies. We want to take fights that are destined to be and present them to you in the fighting pit. A fighter then not only gets to fight his enemy, he gets a small amount of money(even if \"only\" 5%) and the fight becomes a duel for honor.
The 5% for fighters is just the share given to a new fighter. The more you fight the more you get. It almost becomes a proffesion. When a veteran fighter (someone thats fought alot) fights the odds aren\'t as good for the gamblers. This is compensated by the fact that there is info about a veteran. If you have seen him fight before you know how good he is and this gives you a greater chance to bet on the right guy.
Thats it for now...
thanx maxximus

mmm bets go to the organizers? I would feel safer giving a bet to a GM , or some sort of official events team especially if I am putting up a big ammount! For all we know this could be a one time scam a big big scam, I\'ve seen it happen before and its a good way to get some m00la! Maybe I am just a little paranoid but in this game I will not rule out that chance!

It\'s completely normal that you feel that way. I would be afraid to leave a big some of money to anyone that I dont know very well. But as you might know, Zeus is a well known member of the OI (a respected guild) and I\'ve been working hard on creating a new guild lately. I would never risk all this just to obtain cash, and I doubt that anyone in my position would act differently. Anyway, there is no way for me to prove to you that this is an honest business. I can recommend that you only gamble with smaller sums if you\'re doubtful. Take the time to get to know us :)
I really don\'t think that involving the GM\'s is a good thing to do. The people of PS should be independent and know better than disturbing the GM\'s all the time. I am sure that there will come up more merchants and entertainers with time, and then all will depend on trust. We might as well start today!

cheers!

Yeah, ok. I didn\'t think about it very much, I understand your point of view now. Hey, I\'m in favor of this. Potentially, it\'s a great bloodsport feature that will entertain people and make certain ones a handsome profit. Lot\'s of opportunities for impropriety, too.  :D

and then ..to complicate things little bit.
you could make a list of fighters...then if some fighter wins he could have more respect..(that sows out in the list thing)and ppl have to bet a little higher on him next time..

then the fighters can have a meaning..
what im trying to say ist that fighters see a point of killing and ppl can see a good fight...its like a engine of duels..U must make duels interesting to fighters..
