Merchant offline or dns..?
« on: April 19, 2004, 05:23:05 pm »
when i try to connect to http://www.planeshift.fragnatics.com/merchant i get a DNS error. When i connect to http://203.81.47.74/ i get the fragnatics site, but when i click one of their links i again get a dns error. Is for some reason the DNS server or Domain offline?

AFAIK you can\'t have 2 sub domains.. I.E www in this case are 1 and then planeshift that makes 2.

Remove WWW and it will work

Also, it\'s fragnEtics not fragnatics

You\'re right in that it\'s planeshift.fragnetics.com, but DNS *permits*  a fairly arbitrary number of subdomains (myserver.somedepartment.someorganization.bc.ca would be valid, assuming that someorganization.bc.ca was registered with whoever controls \".bc.ca\" and that \"myserver.somedepartment\" was registered with whoever controls \"someorganization\")

it doesnt matter whether i use the http://planeshift.fragnetics.com/merchant
or one with
http://www.planeshift.fragnetics.com/merchant

all end up in a dns error, only if i use the direct ip ill get the webbrowser.. :S
