Interesting Spell/Weapon

Ok, I know we won\'t get a futuristic weapon that does this, but it\'s an interesting spell.

A spike (or two, or three...) which looks like pure light-blue energy, gets shot at a target.  It retains its shape when it hits, then \"turns off\" so it has the glow and color of a blue light-bulb that\'s off.  After that, it zaps the target with a blue electricity.

Comments?

Edit: But at least it\'s different than a stereotypic lightning spell.  
If it was an actual gun, it would probably have some control knob for the juice and smaller spikes.

So its like a futuristic gun, but magic instead. Well I think most offensive spells are like this if you think about it. A fireball is just like some uber flamethrower in a sci-fi game. So I guess that would be a pretty cool spell, though its just a modification of the steriotype lightning bolt spell.
