GUNS OR SWORDS ?
« on: April 26, 2004, 02:03:56 pm »
Basicaly fantasy Vs sci-fi

so would you rather have a gun or use a sword ( any mele weapon) AND no light sabers They are a hybrid of a sword and a gun merged together Any thing along that line will be considerd blasphemy and hertics will be shot or hacked and if found still alive they will be shot or hacked again !

for me it would be guns ! ive grown up watching people shot other people in the movies guns just DO the job better

Talking about reality I\'d prefer to have to use neither. :P
Talking about games I\'d prefer melee weapons, as there are by far fewer games where you have to do that. Guns do the job better, right -- but that\'s just too easy ;)
The internet is "the terrorists'" most important weapon, they say.
Wrong.
Fear is their most important weapon.
Ours is our freedom.

i\'d prefer melee weapons, anyone can point a gun to someone else\'s head and pull the trigger, there is no skill in that, take some effort, use a sword, slice his head.

atleast it\'s more fun to watch

In games I\'m kinda into balancing. I love sci-fi games were you can shoot with all those weirdo weapons, I love fantasy \\ medieval games with all those swords and maces and axes (and ooh, the claws! I love the claws!), and I also like \'modern\' games with normal guns that shoot bullets instead of lasers and stuff.

In reality, Gattling Guns. Preferably that one from Doom (forgot wich one of them, maybe 2). And definitly not that new crap... What\'s it\'s name? Vulcan. Bah.

Reminds me of a scene from Indiana Jones. Where an opponent of him demonstrates his skill with swords by swinging them around. Like a really heavy dude, indy looking anoyed pulls his gun and just shoots him :D

hehe, yea, funny thing about that was that it was an improvisation by harrison ford, since he wasn\'t supposed to shoot him outright, he was ill when they filmed that sequence and harrison just wanted a break instead of a long fight :P

speaking of weapons, I like both kinds, although nothing beats a giant twohanded sword of STEEL slicing through one\'s opponents :D :P

If I\'m gonna fight a person and not some AI, it\'s gotta be swords all the way.  You can never get the same feeling of a duel fighting with guns as you do with melee weaponry.  And I\'m way better at kicking people\'s arses at Bushido Blade that any FPS game.

Bushido Blade all the way!
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

As in, if I don\'t have guns nobody has guns? Then I\'d choose swords. More fun, and no sniper rifles.

If I have a sword and everyone else has guns... guns.

I think gunplay, when executed correctly, has a certain flair for it.  I\'ve yet to see a video game with exceptional gunplay (I\'m talking Equilibrium-quality gunplay).  On that matter, I\'ve yet to see a game with breathtaking swordplay, as well, so there\'s still plenty of room for growth.

Perhaps if someone had the brilliant idea to cross Parappa and Bushido Blade (Or Way of the Samurai)...

As for movies I\'d say I prefer guns, and I have no strong feelings in terms of weapons in video games.

Seriously, depends on the number of enemies.
Swords->Dueling
Guns->War/hoard

I prefer fantasy to sci-fi most of the time, but every-so- often, I might see a good sci-fi shooter.

indeed, but by god it gets the job done and victory by any means is what is important. (theoretically speaking...) I pick guns.

There is defintelly skill when the enemy is a good distance off and running like hell as well as spraying you with bullets.
Although if there standing still and are 2ft away I see your point.

Although if I had to choose between the two I\'d say (for sport purposes) fencing because it looks more fun rather than shooting cute little ducks.

But if it was for real I don\'t think I could kill somebody so I don\'t think I would bother with either.
