Will PS have real life/ real world animals?
« on: April 30, 2004, 01:21:52 pm »
Well the heading says it all. Will PS have normal animals like Deer, Bears, lizards, Horses, cats, dogs or will we have to modify them so that they are purely creatures from PS and no where else?

One point would be that if races from the upper world ps is based in managed to find there way to Yliakum, then surely animals could too, but does/can Planeshift world have Earth\'s animals in common?

I could\'nt find this subject posted else where so sorry if this is one of them posts that just won\'t die!
My in game character\'s are Wolfshade and Kayto! no they wont try to join two different Guilds  !!!!

Given there is humans, i think some real world animals will be used. But dev team seems to really want \'original\' monsters so i doubt there will be many of these. Maybe only decorative monsters (butterfly, sewer cats...)

We do need beast of burden (but for land, not sky) such as horses. Still, I would assume the Devs want to make unique animals, so we\'d get a monster which is equivolent to a horse, etc.

First, although there are humans, the PS world (as far as I know) isn\'t Earth.
So it doesn\'t mean there are animals like horses, etc.

They\'ll probebly have animals that are like animals on earth. E.g. lizards, maybe canines, animals that are similar to cows, horse-like animals, etc.
But Earth-y animals? I kinda doubt it.

I don\'t think that canines attack cats by nature, I think it came together with the domesticalizing of them. I mean, a wolf attacking a tiger?
But since we\'re not talking about Earth, it might also be that canines are used to get eaten by cats...

I\'d assume they\'d have giant lizards perhaps with flat backs for carrying things around.

Then again they can use the pulley/spidersilk system for transporting goods around the stalagtite.

That won\'t really help in the bottom of the cave.
I say we\'ll have giant turtles and snails, and we can ride them. Merchants can have big chariots for them so they can transport goods. Important people can have small chariots for their family and friends.

Edit: There will also be snail races. People will gamble on the winner, etc.

Turtles and snails? Well at least no-one\'ll be run over, I suppose :P

Nah, I was thinking more like giant lizards which can be ridden as well as be used as beasts of burden (like horses).

Yeah, where did you get the idea that lizards are slow? Have you ever seen a gecko? They are fast !
Anyway, the only lizard we know for sure will be in PS is the flying pterosaur :]

what are you talkin about man?

I used to live in the mojave desert, just NW of Death Valley. One of the favorite pasttime for kids is lizard chasing, a kid who can catch a blue belly lizard out there is a local badass, cause they move quick.

what you\'re thinking of is a reptile, reptiles have a slower metabolism, and have to conserve their energy, only moving quickly when they are trying to catch prey.

Johnny Depp\'s a poser to the throne. No one will ever play the part as well as Gene Wilder
