the only thing i don\'t have is a ps2 (which i want but cant get because i\'m broke  )

My main reason for owning an xbox is quite simple: the upcoming rpg \"Fable\". I\'ts supposed to be THE best, and most in-depth rpg of the decade. Don\'t get me wrong. xbox has alot of other great games like Halo,Knights of the Old Republic, morrowind,dynasty warriors 4,grand theft auto series, etc. Sure, you can get alot of these games on PC, but playing them from a console is eisier and more fun, plus you dont need to worry about system requirments to play on xbox.

I\'m a big fan old school rpg\'s like the early ff games (ff3/6,ff5,ff2, etc). Crono Trigger is also an old favorite of mine. SNES used to make GREAT rpg\'s back in the day (thanks to squaresoft of course). I was really dissapointed when squaresoft started making rpg\'s for sony., then changed its name to squarenix a few years later. In my opinion, the release of ff11 online was an attempt to make up for their most terrible recent ff games. None other than ff10 and ff10x2, they were absolutely crap in my opinion.

As for gamecube, it\'s got a few good games, but overall I find that nintendo\'s GC games are becoming exceedingly \"childish\" by the year. That kinda ticks me off as it tells me nintendo doesnt give a rat\'s ass about it\'s mature audience. Although i am definately looking forward to Perfect Dark Zero.

That\'s my 2 cents on console gaming.

I don\'t agree. I mean, I agree it has lots of good games, but those games are far better on PC.

Morrowind, for example. On a console, it\'s boring, awkward and gets old quickly. Only with the PC version can you download the (literally) thousands of mods, models, skins, items, towns, and even total conversions.

Controls are also easier. It seems rare in any console game that you can fully customise your controls. Many games also seem to mysteriously abandon the possibility of mouse+keyboard support. Because lets face it... no FPS is a FPS without M+K controls.

PC versions also usually allow you to pump up the graphics detail, for those of us lucky enough to have a new-ish system and decent specs. Alternatively you can decrease the detail to speed up your framerate. If you get stuck with a game on a console that lags when there\'s lots going on, you\'re S.O.L.

Finally, consoles will inevitably outdate themselves compared to PCs. And they cannot be upgraded.



Right then, that said, I own a Spectrum ZX98, Megadrive and PS2. And I only play games designed for console-use only on them. Some things just arn\'t cross-platform compatable in terms of playability.

With the Xbox you can make internet connection and play online + downoads mods and maps etc. so thats not realy a reason to buy that games on PC and not on the Xbox.

response to paragraph 1: For a game like morrowing yes that is true. it depends on the game in question. Other than that I don\'t find it boring at all. there is really to much to do for it to be boring.

response to paragraph 2: It varies from person to person, I myself find console game controls very simple to master and get used to. More so than a kb. But as I said it varies.

response to paragraph 3: If you lag while playing a console, there is something wrong with the console. I havnt yet played a single console game that lags or has a bad framerate.

response to paragraph 4: At which point new consoles are developed. And more often than not its cheaper to buy the new console rather than upgrade your computer to keep up with demanding system requirments.

i played morrowing on the xbox...i hated it got bored so quickly after i had looted every store in the city and gave up...recently i bought the pc version since moogie was playing her pc version alot and got me interested...and now i love morrowind

Well i have a NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Dremcast, N64, PS1, PS2, and XBOX...i never sell an consoles after i buy them.

As for this argument of pro XBOX/anti XBOX, i have to say that in most instances i am very against Microshaft and their greedy thieving ways but sadly i am a fan of the XBOX and i am a Halo fanboy that is anxiously awaiting the sequel.

I noticed that someone had previously mentioned Fable by Peter Molyneux.  I am also awaiting this fabulous looking game...although it seems that it has been in production for a long, long time (a trait that many of Mr. Molyneux\'s games seem to share).

Has anyone ever played the Shadowrun games for SNES or the Genesis?  I have the genesis version and it is one of my favorite games of all time and about once a year i will break it out and play...an excellent game IMO.

Microsoft does do some pretty screwed up stuff...But that doesn\'t mean they dont make good games, and hardly seems like a reason to pass them up.

i beg to differ of coarse microsoft make\'s game\'s microsoft game studio\'s. but as of right at this moment i can only think of two dungeon siege and  mythica but i\'m sure if i went on the website i could find more

Gas Powered Games made Dungeon Siege.  Mythica was cancelled.  So anyway, that\'s just another studio they bought out.

That\'s all off point anyway, those were all PC games.  Still no reason to get an X-Box.
