New crop circles are coming...
« on: May 03, 2004, 12:29:01 pm »
I\'m expecting to see some new crop circles this month as they generally begin to appear in either April or May of each year.  Here are the crop circles from last year.

The following excerpt tells of an April crop circle, but no pictures of it have been published, and the original website no longer hosts the story, nor does google have it cached.  Still, we should see more crop circles appearing very shortly...

LARGE crop circles with unbroken stems have mysteriously appeared in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Residents of the small town of Conondale, west of Maleny, say they are baffled by the large areas of flattened grass.

Crop circle enthusiast Chris White gave the complex designs an eight out of 10.

You know a lot of people see crop circles as a nuisance but the planning and skill it takes to make them and especially those that are really complex is baffling.

They should be given medals for doing it.

The first circles might\'ve been real, but the rest is just bogus imo.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Well, personally, I don\'t think its people doing it but I won\'t rush to the conculsion of extraterestrials or ghosts. You got to look at more than just the size and the way the grass is bent. Ionized \'meteorite\' particles are found in crop circles (little iron pebbles with an ionic charge) that do not occur naturally are found in crop circle sites. Some soil properties are common in crop circles as well.

Also, rather than the grass just being bent, many of them have things called expulsion pods where, at the hinge of the grass, it seems like a mini explosion happened. They have holes that seem to come from a force on the inside of the stalk of grass.

Ya, Im a freak :D

Maybe people don\'t cut the crop circles.....

Maybe they use little explosives in a bulletproof box, so they only explode the little bit of area that they want blown up. Or, maybe what everyone else thinks: Aliens....

I still think people(that are rich) blow up their crops... :P

Ya, I am an idiot. 8)

Here\'s a website with pictures showing \"unexplainable changes to the plants\":
http://www.greatdreams.com/crop/hoax/hoax.htm

Here\'s some quotes from that website:
Quote
Astronomer, Gerald Hawkins, has shown that the geometry of certain crop formations reveal new, previously unknown, mathematical theorems. This involves ratios that correspond to the intervals of the octaves of the musical scale.
Quote
Crop circle formations often appear in canola (oil seed rape) fields. This plant has a consistency like celery. If the stalk is bent more than about 45-degrees, it snaps apart. Yet, in a \"genuine\" crop circle formation the stalks are often bent flat at 90-degrees. No botanist or other scientist has been able to explain this, nor has it ever been duplicated by a human being.
Quote
On close inspection hoaxed crop circles do not compare to \"genuine\" formations. Hoaxed formations have signs of damage to the plants, and do not have the extensive intricate weaving found in many formations.
That\'s right, some formations can have up to 5 layers of sometimes interwoven weavings.

Anyway... crop circles have a bunch of neat unexplained characteristics.  Characteristics stupid people with ropes and boards can\'t reproduce.

I\'ve heard the few real ones are caused by...

I too was skeptical about this so I did a little reasearch.
I now have a slightly different opinion.
I encourage anyone and everyone not to just throw these things away as hoaxes until they first research these things themselves. the links that Abemore placed are a very good place to start but remember: you will not get an unbiased opinion from either side on this matter. You should read both sides of the argument carefully and decide on your viewpoint after much thought and ponedrance of the evidence.

Basically instead of taking what you see on the discovery channel at face value research into it.

But most importantly think for yourself if you want to find out the truth.

I still say elvis is the prime subject, those shifty rockabilly eyes, and allways wearing jumpsuits, on star treck all the aliens wear jumpsuits, ELVIS WEARS A JUMPSUIT=HE IS AN ALIEN=HE DID THE CROP CIRCLES

but more seiously, if it was aliens why in heck would they fly god knows how many lightyears to a backwater arm of the galaxy only to artisticly damage Mr johnsons corn crop, are they inter galactic stoners? is it Alien Graffiti saying something along the lines of \"Zeevox blows Xentalsees\", was it the people who showed it was a hoax by admitting they did it and how. or was it somethig so sinister its evil can only be seen in a small amount of property damage.

or is it all a conspiracy

No one ever said it was aliens. We simply said that these things are not manmade.

Maleny is only 2 hrs drive from my place. Never heard of any real crop circles around there. There was afew reported at Lower Wonga, but not much notice was taken by locals or \"officials\"
