hey do i need to sign up or register in order to play PLanetShift? If yes, where can i go for the sign up process?

download the client, install it, open and run it.

Than you see \"Create\", \"Quit\" and \"Connect\".

Press on \"Create\", you will now create an character.
After the character is created you can play by pressing on \"Connect\".
