How about making for each place more than one background music, and have the game play them in a random order?
While a small place like the Tavern have no need for more than one music bit (unless there will actually be something to do there in later versions), a big place that you run around in (like the streets, or the wilds) could have 5 bits. That way you could go around the streets for over half an hour before it\'ll start getting tedious.

Hmm I must have skipped this thread earlier. This is great stuff, good work Fanomatic, they are all really good. A few finishing touches, and I would say they would be PS worthy :]

Oh, \"Deep Lake\" is very cool! Cold blue water and refracted light rays - I can see it. :)

Presenting music without sound effects is actually more correctly, although song with effects added is always a good way to prove someone (and yourself  :] ) that it really fits its destination.

Saintnuclear - Yes, I had the same though. That way the music would last longer, and people wouldn\'t complain about tracks repeting over and over.
It would take some extra space though...

Icefalcon - Thanks for the comments. I\'m glad you like my work. :)

Ellarion - Yes, that is exactly how I imagined it. :)

Perhaps I add some underwater-effects later to see how it sounds.

Yeah, when the game will be big with many areas that each uses many diffrent music files it will get a bit big.
But there\'s a solution.
If every environment will have it\'s own folder inside the main folder for music, there can be a system made that chooses random music files from that directory.
That way you can remove \\ add music files from these directories according to how much space you want PS to take in your HD.
When you dl the game, the amount of music files will be minimal, but if you want you can dl music packs.

good job just work on it a little
people often dont know how difficult it is to make music and ambience from scratch...

Just downloaded the Hitman Contracts soundtrack and read an interview with the artist that composed all the music. The songs are on the HMC official site along with a link to the interview.

http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/gss/hitmancontracts/

I think the website is very impressive. The music is fantastic. Very moody and appropriate. Im sure the game is going to be unreal also. Im downloading the demo as I type this post.

After reading the interview with the music composer I can better appreciate the music that has been posted in this thread.

Deep Lake is very nice.  It sounds quite high quality as well.

Ambient music is essential to the mood of the game.  Without music, the immersion into the game world is not complete.  Planeshift\'s music should indeed have a certain overall style, and the music we have heard so far in the game is excellent and unique, especially the amazing theme.

Good luck to you, fanomatic.  If you have free time, maybe you should think about helping the team. ;)

Erm, I didn\'t say you guys will make less music, I just said that it\'ll be divided into parts so you won\'t have to dl all the music files to play the game. But people will probebly dl the music packs, atleast the official ones - made by you :P
