SPR files?
« on: May 12, 2004, 11:11:48 pm »
Hello. I wanted to have a play around with some of the Planeshift models, but what are .spr files? :P Is there an importer/exporter for 3DSMax or Milkshape or something, or is it a custom format? Thanks.

The .spr files have been converted from something like .3ds or blender files to CrystalSpaces own format.  (Crystal Space is the free 3D engine that Planeshift uses.)  I don\'t think there are too many tools which go in the .spr -> .3ds direction, most of the effort has been focused on going in the other direction.

Ah, okay then, thanks. I know it uses Crystal Space - I tried to use that myself once but I thought it lacked too much documentation and stopped. :)

Various efforts have and are being made in the documentation direction, currently Jorrit & others are working on \"Crystal-Core\", a demo FPS which shows off the features of crystal space.  This is only in its infancy though.

I think there\'s a few decent docs, and after that you\'re stuck with the doxygen API docs and the sourcecode :)
