Guilds
« on: May 13, 2004, 05:53:59 pm »
Don\'t know how guilds will be implemented in the game but i have some suggestions:

There could be guild property (like in morrowind) that someone loses when killed by an enemy of another guild. Problem is of course, why would a guild then have guild property.

It should be possible to kill someone in your own guild, this way you can play a traitor or kill one.

Someone who leaves a guild can be attacked by them for a certain period. So if you leave as a spy then your unsafe.

Besides a state of war and peace between guilds also states like alliance, pact and cease fire treaties. When in cease fire one party can continou the war without consensus of the other side.

Just some thoughts i had, dont shoot me if you dont agree, just tell me why :)

If your opponent is willing to die for his cause, he and you have the same goal set in mind.

One thing that crossed my mind with respect to guilds was the whole /invite thing.  To me it would make sense for people to have to go to the guild house, or maybe a court and sign something, as opposed to being able to /invite people all over the place.  This would also be useful for secret guilds, currently if you\'re in a secret guild then any /invites pop up as unacceptable.  Under a more \"roleplaying\"-ish system, the person would have to travel anyway to officially join the guild, giving them more time to BS a response as to why they can\'t join.

I also don\'t see why guild membership is exclusive- I can see it being a guild rule, and being a member of two warring guilds would be a problem, but canthese things can be worked around?

The invite thing has a simple reason: There are two types of for a guild..
There are those people who want become membersand come asking the guild. For them is the court and signing thing.
But there are also people who fit the guild so perfectly, the guild wants them. For those is the invite.

As an example an magic guild: There are those younger sons of nobles, peons,  etc, who want to be magickers, live good and wealthy. They come to the official guild court and were tested and perhaps teached.
But there are also those talented, who your mages see on their travels/jobs, and had never thought about your guild, cause they have no probs. Your guild wants them, cause they are your real human resources. So the finder invites them, where he founds them.

There probally is a ton of things they are planning or have already initiated for future releases! So I\'d rather just wait for what they show us before throwing out my ideas on the subject...

Quwaar, LOL :D. Dont know if it is that obvious, depends on what the devs implement.

DeppthBlade, youre right that the devs probably have plans for guilds. But hey we have to do something in the meantime and who knows we come up with an idea they didn\'t think of.
