\"May 14, 2004 - As reported today on Gamesradar, two unidentified people attending E3 yesterday made off with the demo code for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The one-level demo has been on display at Sony and Konami\'s booths.

According to reports, the two thieves, believed to be young men between 19-20 years old, cracked the case protecting the demo PS2 and leaned against the unit until they were able to eject the disc. They then made a mad dash for the doors.

The LAPD are currently investigating the situation, though details about the perpetrators are still unknown. We\'ve heard no official comment from Konami, Sony, or the Los Angeles Convention Center so far, but we\'ll keep you updated with developments as they come in.

Rockstar was also a no show.  I thought they\'d be there promoting their new GTA.
The Unreal engine was a nice demo and Everquest 2 has some cool features.  The Guild Wars booth had competitions, and my team won ours so we received 32 MB usb sticks so that was cool.

Microsoft is a bunch of bitches; that\'s whats up.  Halo 2 was apparently only available to the privileged.  I asked a guy in the Xbox booth where I could find it and all he could say was, \"it\'s behind closed doors.\"  Damn you Microsoft!

Anyway, the rest of the show was great.

So many beautiful games... and so many beautiful women... put a big smile on my face :))

One of the most surprising games for me was GuildWars .
This game was apparently at E3 last year, but I was not.  Also last year it looked terrible and now - fantastic.  I had not heard about it until E3.  Basically, GuildWars is yet another MMORPG being developed by some ex-Blizzard employees who worked on Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo and Battle.net.  Their company is named ArenaNet, and the most amazing thing about GuildWars is that there will be no monthly fee.  Let me say that again, there will be NO MONTHLY FEE.
Here\'s IGN\'s take on it: http://pc.ign.com/articles/512/512115p1.html?fromint=1

One more thing, Guild Wars has been compared to Magic:The Gathering in that the players have much equality, and it is their strategies that are the deciding factor in combat.  I must also mention GuildWars\' streaming technology.  The game client is a less than 100kb download.  The rest of the game is streamed to you as needed.  Patches and content are also streamed as needed.  It\'s really cool once you see all the benefits of this.

What else... STALKER looked amazing, as did Prince of Persia 2.  SEGA\'s big overly-hyped announcement was its affiliation with The Matrix Online...   .  Midway\'s Psi-Ops was hella fun.  I have been needing telekinetic abilities for a while now.  Sony\'s PSP and Nintendo\'s DS were both looking sweet.

There were so many games, it was impossible to see them all.  And the sheer number of really hot booth babes was staggering.  I will very likely be attending again next year.

First of all, Guild Wars does look very cool, and free is definitely my kind of price :)  I also just read an article about STALKER; gosh those visuals are nice.

And second, how did you get into E3, Abemore?  Don\'t you have to be either a professional game developer or media person to get in?

Abemore, have you seen Auto Assault? This game will be sooooooooooooo awesome!

And of course R* wasn\'t promoting San Andreas, they like giving small teasers (and spread false rumors in boards) every once in a while and uncover bigger parts only toward the end... Peanuts

It\'s more than just visuals in STALKER, that game is deep.  Creatures mutated from the radioactive fallout in the ruins of Chernobyl.  Gravitational anomalies.  Non-scripted artificially intelligent creatures/NPC\'s that behave as they would in real life even when you are not there witness it.

You only need to be in the interactive entertainment industry (I think you can also buy your way in for around $350).  I work for an internet/television/telephone provider.  That apparently is interactive entertainment, so I\'m not complaining.  In short, I applied, and they let me in free.

I must have missed that game at E3, but it looks kinda like a Twisted Metal style deathmatch type-a-game, to which I say... meh.
