Food not just limited to main courses
« on: May 15, 2004, 11:50:57 pm »
IN a lot of MMORPG cooking has always been cooking big courses like pie and cakes, meats or stews, etc...

But I think it\'d be cool if snacks could be made. Like chips? Banana Chips as such? Or preserved meat like some type of meat jerky, cookies, little candies.

Oh yah I think candy making would be a cool job under cooking. Of course candy would need lots of exp to make because we all love candy ;) Ya hard lemon candy, yay...

And if there were fruit hard candy were able to be made then it would go like get water and sugar and boil together in a hot pot. Then after add flavor juices from your favorite fruit, then put into little candy moulds, then let it cool off. Candy moulds would be a craftable item. You know you can change the shapes like stars, circles, or ovals or something.

Sounds cool but...what would candy do? IRL we get the pleasure of eating it, but it has no nutritional value...and you must eat a ton of candy to actually boost your energy a little. What good would it do in-game?

temporary increase in stamina. It can also be made for cooking for exp. It can be sold in bulk maybe from guild to guild. They can be used as rations when no other food is available.

Same with Chips.

edit: Also preserved fruits and meat jerkys.

Candies don\'t really give sugar-rush, because the sugar in candies get to your stomach slowly.

Maybe candies will raise mana?

Looks like you have played RS :) Yah I am big into cooking and I was thinking more of actual RESTAURANTS,

You need traders/suppliers for the essentials
  Master Cooks
  Servers
Security for the dine and dashers/drunks
  Advertisers

For once I would like to see a game expand the idea and actually make the system work, but you know we haven\'t even got the next release yet so I\'ll wait before preaching more about this!

I admit I play RS, since there\'s not really any other free MMORPG out there. Except Tibia but that\'s just a (insert negative remark here) game.

My name is Boreas9 if you ever find me on there.

back to topic:
Opening a restaurant would be cool, actually I\'ve already talked about it with the Blizters (my guild that I\'m proud to say).

Hard to say if I\'m more into cooking or herblaw/pharmeceuticals (non-magic recovery medicene)

right, candies should be useless... that\'s obvious...
if you want to make food, make it iron rations, bread, meat and so on...
and if you really want candies, add some poison to them and sell it to some sucker, who won\'t sense that poison is there, because the candy is so sweet and stuff...

Candy would still be a good idea. I wouldn\'t mind making chocolate bars with caramel inside. Of course that\'s be like an advanced cooking item but still sweets and candies are great things to cook.

Also like if you were going to have a girlfriend online in-game you could make candy, give her flowers, and get her or make her jewelry, see it all plays out.

There\'s only a single flaw about all this... PlaneShift happens to be a medieval fantasy game. Sure, fantasy covers a lot but so does medieval. In the medieval times, people didn\'t know how to make those sweets such as striped things with hoards of sugar, or chocolate with caramel. First of all, back then, sugar wasn\'t like it is today. It\'s wasn\'t mass produced. And how in the world would get get the cocoa beans required for chocolate, that grow down near equator? I\'m just asking. :)

Now, if you want candy in your game it shouldn\'t be for \"just cooking exp\". Candy should be an exclusive treat to give at a guild party, to show everyone just how much money your guild has. The same with someone specialised in making candy (candy isn\'t cooked, by the way). The better and more exclusive candy you have, the richer you can get when some guild hosts a party. :)

Try and think about things before you suggest them. It helps. ;)

True, but you forgot that PS isn\'t in the real world.
Maybe in Yliakum there are cocoa trees right there after the hills that surrounds Hydlaa? And sugarcanes grow on the sides of the roads?

Try and think about things before you negate them. It helps.  ;)

Animals can entertain in shows and arts, can bear heavy weights, can be useful to hunt, to find hidden objects, to guide through dangerous places, to fly. The trainers should have patience and leadership, be gentle and strong at the same time and have quick reflexes.

How about animal candy that you give your pets when theyve done a good job? This way you can keep them faithful. Maybe this can be implemented on n00bs later on :D
