The hardware requirements for PS are going up, not down.  Sorry.  Time goes by and technology advances.

As long as the game is heavily optimised. Cause my ram chokes when playing PS. I can play alot of other games with system requirements that are far greater than PlaneShifts and they run quite well.

Cal3D will probably fix most the problems with memory?

Keep in mind that PlaneShift is running on donated
server space. A web based version would need sooooo much more room. At
the moment all you really can do to increase performance is lower
resolution and turn off sound, but how low can you go before it is not
playable anymore?
Phone          --> Adult Phone Services
Internet       --> Matchmaker Sites
Chat Rooms --> Cybering

Every time someone advances the technology of communication, it\'s only a matter of time until someone uses it to get laid.
I\'d give PS about 12 more months or so...

Yes.  Bandwidth is not the issue.

The protocol and other necessary details are open. One could probably whip up a textmode / ASCII-Art version of PS if one really wanted to... then again, I\'d rather upgrade my computer, it\'s about time anyway. ;)

I however DO agree that the resolution / detail settings are good things.

me and my friend both have 56k modems but we have good computers, so will we still be able to play, and if so will we lag so much that ppl will just kill us and it will be pointless?

No, your lag will be due to the unrefined engine code. Your 56k modems should be fine as long as they deliver an effective throughput of ~ 1k, which should be no problem even with the worst phone lines. The demand of CB might increase, but I doubt it\'ll increase by more than factor 10, so even an old 14.4k modem would still suffice. So I\'d expect you to be perfectly fine.

Browser-based PS? You want to have to download the game every time you want to play it?
