Ahh forget it. My patience and tolerance with this forum wavers every time I visit it. If people spent less time justifying what they suggest and more time furthering an idea then this forum would be a much more constructive place.

Infact this will be my last post. Maybe ill return when the next version is released.

Cirque, you cant even spell Atheist correctly and your telling an Atheist to look it up?  Come on.

OT aside:

Heaven and hell are largely associated with christianity, and last I looked there werent any christians in Yliakum. The Planeshift afterlife should be original, it has original deities after all. Aside from that, having a seperate afterlife for \"good\" and \"bad\" characters would as mentioned cause the problem of how to classify someone as good or bad. That could end up being a bit of a mess.

And yes, I think that PS should be original and stay away from common/widespread ideas such as RL religious ideas, ie. stereotypical christian heaven and hell.

I\'d guess that they already have it mostly worked out though since there will be combat in CB and as a result, death.

Oh, have a good break cirque.

[edit] Yes, I mispelled it as well. It was 4:00AM, I shouldnt try to spell after midnight :P. Thanks for the note anyhow cirque.[edit]

Don\'t add heaven, nor hell, but why not add many \"grey\" under-worlds to increase variety?

Well, the Death Realm isn\'t exactly Hell - it seems like in the PS world everyone\'s spirit can make the journey from death back to life.
This does raise a problem - does anyone in the PS world undergo final death?  Is this resurrection open only to a select few? (i.e. adventurers).  Perhaps this \"death realm\" represents another Plane.  I think that personal possesions (and maybe even physical ability) shouldn\'t count for much in the death realm, unless it\'s a physical journey (i.e. corpse disappears and is resurrected in the Death Realm).

Perhaps only violent death is not final, whereas old age and disease kill the spirit as well? (Or at least send it to a \"deeper\" Death Realm)

Just some thoughts...  I don\'t really think the religous beliefs of the devs have much to do with the design of PS - I know that because of my beliefs I occasionally feel uncomfortable referring to a pantheon as \"gods\", but there is an important distinction between fiction and reality :)

Why dont you make so once you are in the deathrealm you have to hunt down souls of monsters then u can lvl up and hunt down harder onces wich give more soul(power), once you get enough souls you can talk to a npc wich will take those souls (number depends on your lvl) and revive you in the real world.

if the monster kills you in the deathrealm, you become somekinda shapeless energy for 5min (or untill you reach the altar), then you become a soul again .... and the soul hunting can continue ^^

This will give lots of new possibilities to the game and  somekinda new attributes and skill like soul power, and soul attack, soul defence, steal soul, even revive other people (you must be high lvl and newbies must probably beg you ^^) ... maybe you could even hunt down souls of players (pk in deathrealm)

Maybe when you lend money from a player and you can\'t pay it back, you can give your soul in exchange, the other player will get 2% of the experience and souls you get. (you can only sell your soul once?)

Hahah! You can become a Soul Collector! XD The concept is intriguing.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I was thinking that abilities would count differently within the Death Realm - perhaps wisdom in the physical world would correspond to strength in the Death Realm, or some peculiar arrangement like that.

This would make an important attribute of a character- how quickly can they get back to life?

the devs have not said anything about the death realm in the upcoming release

if there is death but no death realm i guess we will just spawn back in the middle of hydlaa plaza

and Androgos stay on topic we are not talking about the FAQ we are talking about death in Planeshift. If the topic had been Faq then we would have been talking about FAQ

Hehe, sorry **shame on me**

I just became a little .. angry when I some person (forgot the name) needed to explain what the \"death world\" was and what function it used..

Now back on topic..

Personaly, I support the thought of being \"restructable\" when you are in the death realm..

But the FAQ clarifies something important which has been discussed in the PK advertisement threads: when you die, you can\'t be looted. Therefore, your body will not stick around in the world of the living. Therefore, I believe you\'ll look similar to what you looked like in the world of the living. The stuff you had is another problem. As it will not be left behind in the WOTL, it needs to go smoewhere. It isn\'t in the death realm AFAICS from the FAQ, but this may also just be there to assure us that the stuff won\'t be lost regardless of the death world. If so, you might even have all the stuff, but it most likely will be useless there. This means that you might collect stuff in the death world and bring it to the WOTL, where in turn this will be useless.

However, this stuff could maybe be used to resurrect people, as it is a kind of connection to the death world. And maybe it works the other way round as well: you could be \"resurrected\" to the death world via stuff from the WOTL. Maybe, if you loose your WOTL stuff in the death world, you risk being \"resurrected\" as you leave a connection... ;) I\'d call it \"desurrection\". :)

i think it would be nice if when you die you get into the (death world) until you find youre way out and if you cant find the way you will be revived after some days !
