Man I suck
« on: May 29, 2004, 06:45:07 pm »
I got bored, I doodled something in paint, still bored I decded to colour it in on photoshop... Anyway here is a Scraal, afterwards a short description of what a Scraal is...

The Scraal: The Scraal are a recently discovered and fairly rare species found in the stone labyrinths that surround Yliakum. They are usually about the height of a common house cat; they are cautious creatures and avoid larger predators successfully. They are highly efficient scavengers and pathetic hunters; while they have an excellent sense of smell and sight they lack the necessary armour or weapons to kill prey themselves. What sets the Scraal apart from other scavenger races, such as rats, is their claws. Their claws are formed of an organic metal that is stronger than steel, some say it is indeed even stronger than diamond. As such there is currently a high demand for the acquisition of enough Scraals to allow for breeding. It is hoped that by breeding them within Yliakum people will be able to farm the precious metal simply known as scra. However capturing enough Scraal is proving difficult for even the most veteran hunters ? the Scraals cautiousness and knowledge of their terain is proving troublesome.

Edit: and yes i know it looks like a turd  with pipecleaners  stuck in it. But I think it adds to the effect :D

This is nice. Not the drawing, but the idea.

Maybe it can be used as a kind of a neverending quest. You catch Scraals, and give them to some NPC in a city. In exchange you get a few trias or something.

After a few months or so this quest will actually end, because there\'ll be enough of them. But a new neverending quest will start.

It doesn\'t have to be a good drawing, it just have to show how the creature looks etc.
Making it look game-worthy is the graphicians\' job ;)

I like the idea of the claws being worth something. Maybe animal trainers could breed scraals as an alternative to trying to find these shy lil\' buggers.

No.

What Zeph said is that they could be bred, I added like \"hey, that\'s something animal trainers can do!\".

Tauren, it\'s not the same. Zeph said that NPCs will breed them, Skizzik said that players will breed them.

Plus I mentioned the job \'animal trainer\', which is a character job in planeshift. I was kinda thinking about how this breeding could be done in the game.
