Not only that but we can use that to generate player names, to stop bad names? The source is a basic javascript and can be converted to C or C++ code without much effort? Thanks kendric!

That\'s if we want to use generated names.  Some players may not like this option.

Perhaps so, but we have a choice:

a? Enforce use of Randomly Generated Names so to avoid problems, we could have a button that can be clicked multiple times until a name to the users liking is chosen?

b? Have a side option to insert a Randomly Generated Name but still keep it so users can use any name they want, with whatever constraints on their consistency we choose?

Its a tough choice, we could give the user the choice, or go for a more enforced roleplay environment? I would like to go with the second option myself, so we dont force people to? But if bad names are chosen we may have to reset someones name to a random one and prevent them from choosing a name for any of their characters again?

i was wondering... because people like me, kinda use the same name EVERYWHERE, in everygame its kinda hard to give it up for some fake name...

so i was wondering... if this RP thingy was inforced maybe u could like write in a nickname or something... because none of the names i use would really be sutable for a game like this.... but i hate using different names
i lost my sig... i hope ur happy

Hehehehe, I just tried the generator - it came up with \'Talad\'

Hmmm, maybe I won\'t be able to use that one :P

Seriously though, it\'s a nice little generator and it would be great to have everybody using names with a \'role-play\' feel to them - it does add to the whole game environment, but it would be a bit harsh to take away the freedom to choose your own name.

what if there was a name system that allow the user to make a first, mid. and last name, and encurage them to use more\"realistic name. as well as title if there in a clan. the \"title\" is assigned by there superiors. the only reason that i dont think its a good idea to force names certain types of names on ppl is because the more things that we want to froce on ppl(ive read some of the posts on the board) the less it will be an rpg. if you dont like something(pking for example) get creative and find a way to deal with the problem.i think someone already mentioned a type of \"nick name\" idea which is prolly the best idea ive heard in a long time.that way ppl wont skrew with their names so much.personally
if there was no nick name func. i would prolly use a word that would describe me a lil. if ther do put a nick name func. then i would use a more traditional name. i think a lot of other ppl would too.
tell me what you think.

The program can be used by ppl who haven\'t enough experience with RPG\'s to make up a good RP name themselves.

I\'m sure that if surnames are allowed, names like Baldur423 will occur much less, as for the main reason for these stupid names is that the subsciber\'s nickname is already in use. (forcing them to put a number behind their name, they won\'t easily use another nickname, a surname wouldn\'t be a problem)

- an example of how it shouldn\'t be is to be found on the lucasarts multiplayer network. There you can only make a 8 letter name (without spaces), and there can only be one name of each. This way it proves  impossible to use your normal nick, as there\'s a 99% chance it\'s already been taken.

Thekkur

BTW, there\'s NO one else with Thekkur as a nick online, so if yous ee someone with that name in a game, you can be sure it\'s me :)
