Just go to start -> Run -> then type dxdiag

It\'ll give a whole whack of info for you.  On the first page it will have your direct X version (newest is 9.0b for comparison) and you can click the \"Display\" tab to check out what kind of video card/size of card you have.

I believe 9.0 will do. So it\'s your graphics card until further notice, I\'d say. I can\'t help you in finding out much about it as I haven\'t used XP at all (and I\'m goin to avoid it if at all possible). Once we know what graphics card you have, we might be able to give more advice. However, this might turn out to simply be \"install most recent drivers (d/l from vendor homepage)\". However, knowing it would have the benefit of knowing what performance to expect.
One thing to note is that your mainboard may require special drivers to have the other drivers access the graphics board properly. These usually come on a CD with your mainboard. Try installing these if you didn\'t already or try getting the newest ones off your mainboards vendor\'s homepage. These should be called something like \"all in one driver\" or \"AGP miniport driver\" or somesuch.
