Well, just googling it, US seems to have 97% literacy rate with 22 countries having a higher rate.  It also says though that each country has unique methods to measure literacy rate, so I wouldn\'t get too uptight about it ;)

What the others may have found out is info such as this site: http://www.nifl.gov/nifl/faqs.html which basically says that while there is very few illiterate people in the US, there is a much higher percentage with poor literacy skills.

i went to school in russia up to 8th grade and finished up in new york from 9-12..

my high school is no way lower standard than russian school i must say, there\'s just greater divisions.. for example, there\'s the honours class where kids take college level cources and there\'s esl class where people struggling to learn english :)  .. yes, if you want to judge america by the esl class, then you are most certainly correct, but that\'s just not the case.. America has to have low standart education for the people that coming into the country and such..

In Russia it is way more simple to just buy your professors grade or cheat on the test.  I hear on the news that Graduation exams are downloadable online or could be obtained prior to exams.. now that\'s rediculous.

Try and get SATs prior to its given day...

dunno about europe, but I am sure you all speak out of your love for europe and patriotic emotions...

Btw, good job on graduating, hopefully you graduated from honours classes :D
