Slipknot is the worst \"music\" I\'ve ever heard... the fact that the crappy band takes on the genre nu-metal, although somewhat fitting since most bands in that genre (if not all) are really just doing pop music with a ghey-agressive attitude, is disturbing, since it isn\'t metal.. It\'s just noise.. I wish I could say organized, but sadly, no..

Slipknot is an example of how you can gain success by appealing to young people\'s problems, by agressive stageshows.. Also an example of how not to make a band, more a group of clowns.

If you\'re a true metal head, you\'ll stay clear of Slipknot.

System of a Down is nu-metal too.. it\'s better than Slipknot, waaay better.. since they actually manage to perform adequately live, and have some rather catchy tunes..

That does not, however, make them any less \"nu-metal\".. If I were to give you a piece of advice, it wouldn\'t just be \"stay away from Slipknot\" it would be Stay away from nu-metal!!

The quality of the music produced in that sector is the closest you can get to modern pop music.. it has taken over from rock when regarding genres that previously appealed to the soft \"rebellion\" in the average young person.. It hasn\'t got any real factors of quality, it\'s often repetitive and tedious. In short, it sucks!

They are not \"nu-metal\". POD is nu-metal. Linkin Park is nu-metal. SOAD is agro-rock/alternative.

agro-rock/alternative.. pfft.. they qualify for the rules of nu-metal, one of which being they suck.. thus they are nu-metal..

they are nothing compared to the masses of great bands out there, just beyond reach of the ignorant and blind....

slipknot does not try to appeal to \"other\" ppls problems.. they sing about their own problems (corey lived in poverty most of his childhood, and was addicted to cocaine at 14..)
it is definately not bad music.. i love the lyrics and the voice

I agree with Xalthar about Slipknot, however I do not agree with the attitude towards newmetal in general. SoaD is one of the good examples from day 1, the first album is still a little chaotic and embryonic, but has potential and definately is very different compared to modern made-up-all-recycle-pop-music.

They have what nine members in Slipknot?  Yet they still can\'t achieve good music.  Pretty sad.

Aendar: Because the more people you have in the band, the easier it is to make good music???

Xalthar, while I might agree with you w.r.t dislike of Slipknot, your logic (\"suck implies nu-metal\") is a little ... weak.

I can\'t stand any of the really heavy rock that some bands are coming out with these days, but I do like SoCal Punk.  (Bands like Green Day, Sum41, Simple Plan, etc.)

Some of my favourite music is \"oldies\" stuff like the Beatles, Neil Young, and other classic rock.  All the music that I like has an actual Melody and Tune.  I don\'t hear much of that in a lot of newer songs, but that\'s what I look for when I listen to music.   That\'s why I don\'t think much of a lot of these \"new-metal\" bands.
