The team should choose a certain goal week for the release, and announce the release date like two weeks from that week. That way, they could only be early.

The thing is, that we do this in our spare time.

Others (not I :P) have jobs for example, and sometimes there is some RL issues that will slow down.

Stuff like the last is unpredictible and therefore we can\'t set a release week

I\'d rather it be constantly updated/released, unfinished, buggy, and crashing.
I think the community should be the testers all the time.  Internal testing is for closed projects. If this were the case, there would be a constant flow of feedback and complaints and the like, and the people would get to feel so much closer to the development process.

...but that\'s just me ;)

Everyone can \'internal test\' if they want. But you have to build the client and server yourself. If they just handed it out and asked for people to test then there would be abut 100 people saying: \'It crashes when I jump\', which isn\'t very helpful. If you can build it, then you should be able to give some more technical info/try to fix it yourself.

blueCommand, you lazy bum! XD Hehe, I can\'t talk, since I have no job. (But then, I\'m still in school...)

I think you (eh, the devs) should finish it, announce a release date for a week later, and release it the next day, suprising everyone and all that good stuff! Then all will be well... ^_^

:O

You must be like... a prodigy or sumthin. Either that, or you have a lot of time on your hands to learn how to program... I am trying to learn (I\'m ~ your age) but I have so many things that people make me do. (Must kill the inventor of chores)

The younger you start, the easier it is to learn. So if you start programming when your 8 (;)) then you\'re going to know quite alot by the time you are 14. :)

Bah, HTML doesn\'t count :P HTML means hypertext markup language. markup ain\'t programming... although html and creative use of tables has become something of an art >_>
I know a small amount of c++ (well, I consider it small... I know the most c++ of anyone on my street, but then again, its all relative!) and I know html, and I know ehh... not much else ;)

I started at around 12 too. Learned HTML + javascript, then Perl (first CGI, now more system utils), PHP, C++, Java (I love java\'s good OO support), XML, XHTML/CSS (yes theres a difference), and now I am 16 (bday was a week ago) ;)

So yes, if you get started early... one technology leads to another and you eventually become proficient in everything. Tip: Google always helps :).

It sucks being unable to use your skills because you are young, because you have no credentials, etc. I did make ~$300 off Rent-A-Coder (http://www.rentacoder.com) for a few years ago (it was a ripoff, but I just wanted some cash anyway).

But it is great to be able to donate your time to an OSS project. I\'ve always wanted to help one out, but I can never find the time. Junior year in HS after this summer won\'t help :). Maybe I\'ll poke around the sources and submit a patch if I see anything where I can be of help.

Note about HTML:
Early on, I had a very basic knowledge of HTML. I could make tables, use
, etc. Over time, I discovered the standards movement and semantic HTML (ALA is a good site: http://www.alistapart.com). Now I pride myself in using DIV\'s in favor of tables and writing semantic markup styled with CSS. IMHO if you can\'t write valid XHTML, you don\'t know HTML. Tables are so 90\'s. :)

So, all we can do is hope that there are absolutely no bugs in the internal testing.....hmmm, sounds fun.
