Quest for summons
« on: June 25, 2004, 10:04:42 pm »
I don\'t think summons should be able to be acquired just because your experienced in the Red Way Magic, that\'s the one I think is with the summons right?

Anyways, having a summon is a pretty personal thing, I mean its like having a pet being called whenever you need it. Therefore I belive that summons can\'t be acquired through red way experience but rather having to do a quest for each specific summon.

Maybe there should be a summon for each way of magic?

i like elegrand\'s idea and also think there could be a different attack based on number of uses or skill level for that way of magic.

There could be an NPC you talk to to open a passageway for you to meet this summon and gain its trust
Under construction

I think that a summon based on your preffered way of magic is good... I imagine this as an elemental for your way of magic popping in to take your place in combat. You could train this elemental\'s abilities as if it were your character, and it will have \"health\" like a real player... and if you let it die in battle rather than resume your place and dismiss it, you will have to earn its trust all over again (Duh, I wouldn\'t trust someone who called me and ordered me to use my powers, then left me to die o.O)

indeed, that would also make it less uber. That way people cant keep summoning each time their summon dies and kill all the melee fighters of the other side without a single casualty.

I do think each way needs to have 1 major summon (like balor or dragon on nvn) and 1 minor summon (like a wolf or bear) and some may even have some more.

It would also be nice to see all summons be differently and connected to their way:
-1 with a ranged shooter/magician-kind
-an other with a aid-kind (like a flying animal for any of your troops to help a.e. archers to get higher)
-a way has a elemental-kind
-4th is a melee fighter-kind
-a priest-kind
-

And i mean, that thus 1 way mainly has summons that fit in 1 of these sorts, so that the way you choose gives you acces to a specific kind of summons.

example: crystal is mainly aid-magic. Thus the summon of that way would be the priest-kind. That summon would not go into battle with the warriors, but intstead  it casts out various buffering/healing spells to aid his caster (leaves you with more mana) and it would remain near his master to aid him in case of melee attacks.

example: red-way is mainly fighting/damaging. Thus that summon would be the melee-fighter kind.
This summon would just storm right into the battle and keep chopping till nothing moves, yet not going away from his caster for more then 100 meters to be able to run back fast in case of a melee-attack.
