Ok just a question thrown out there because I noticed lot of posts gone missing now that Aendar takes charge :P

You say your deleting things in the guild forum that aren\'t ontopic? Ok if its my thread about my guild and we are discussing or making jokes that aren\'t insulting why do you think you can delete them? IS it just something for you to do when your bored or what? Last time I checked a forum was for communication within the community, rules such as this are invalid and frusturating! If it gets to the point where it gets pointless and stupid...why not let for example ME the creator of my guild thread say hey can A mod please clean this up its getting out of hand, because this whole deleting off topic thing is REALLY getting stupid! (I doubt this would ever happen because no one on here really goes crazy with swearing or insults and for the most part they keep it in role!)

I have no disrespect for you...but leave the posts that make the 5 word limit and aren\'t RL insulting alone!

(If you think this post is insulting you, go ahead and delete it but its just a question/request...and a reasonable one at that!)

First of all, a forum isn\'t a chatboard for you and a friend to joke around about something noone else can relate to at all. That\'s why there is a PM function, and you have many other choices for guild communication, for instance a group MSN conversation or even making your own board with your own rules.

Second of all, a forum is for discussing matters which are more important than a 5 word post. If your vocabulary is so horrible that you cannot express yourself with more than 5 words, you\'re an idiot, to say it in a nice way. Retard, if you like that better. Or you\'re simply incapable of writing a post suited for a forum. Go to IRC.

Third of all, RL insults and the likes are none of our business, and that doesn\'t matter where on these forums you post. If you have a problem with someone, talk to the person via instant messages or PMs, do not spam threads with your useless bickering about how little you like someone or how annoying someone else is.

As for the off-topic thing - it\'s good. If a person cannot post something which is related to why the thread was started, he has no reason to post at all. If he posts anyway, he is a spammer, and spamming is something noone likes. If you can\'t stay on topic, make a new thread, or reply in a thread where your post is on topic. Noone cares if you don\'t like Jell-O, and you tell us all in a thread related to guild wars. Then you\'re just an idiot, etc. (look above for an explanation of your other options on what to be).

Oh, and have fun Aendar. Your rules are good so far, and that people are pissed at you for deleting their posts already is a good sign. :)

Depthblade: From the posts I deleted in your thread, half of them were insults and the other half were about japanese people.

If you want to chat with friends then go on IM and do it.  If it\'s some sort of discussion you want the whole forum to see then post in the Hydlaa.  Either way, it doesn\'t belong in the guilds forum.

And when I delete a post I have to delete any post that refers to that post.  It seems unfair but it has to happen.  For future reference don\'t reply to spam.

And don\'t feel special I deleted posts from pretty much every thread, including my own.

If you have any further questions refer to post 1.

Gronomist: Thank you. :)

lol, all mods are both loved and hated. It\'s in the job description.  :D

And, yeah, Grono is right, as you should really keep on topic. I also suggest locking this one before it becomes the new forum flaming ground. :)

some advice to the mods: sometimes its best to only delete part of a post. wouldnt it be annoying if a very long post got deleted because 1 line was spam?

you are doing quite a good job so far aendar, considering you just started

i dont think a moderator will delete a long on topic post with only 1 line of spam, i dont even think they will bother the edit the post unless its offensive or is significantly violating a forum rule.

Altharion is correct, posts like that are not deleted, but if the offending part is bad enough then those lines of text will be removed and the rest of the post kept intact.

I also agree that this thread should be closed before it becomes a debate on mod policies, it was only an announcement anyway. :)

You\'re doing great Aendar.
