Hierarchy of Summons
« on: July 03, 2004, 09:24:09 am »
Just a rough idea, since yet again I had nothing to do, man I wish I was in school learning something.

Great Idea!
But how do you convince the gods to allow you to summon creatures??

the Guardians tell the Gods if you can use the summon creatures.  In basic terms means more experience.

So here\'s the more RP\'ing way of the hierarchy of summons:
You most likely have to do a quest to start using a summon. I\'m not speaking for the Devs or anything but since summoning is a powerful magic, I\'m sure they\'ll make you do a quest to prove that you can use summons. So you start using summons, after using a lot of summons, the Guardians will realize that your becoming experienced in using spirits. Then the Guardians will show themselves to you, allowing you now to call Guardians. After using a lot of Guardians they\'ll start to take a liking to you, in which they\'ll ask the Gods if you can use their pets which are Summon Creatures. So the Gods say yes, so now you can use Summon Creatures. After using Summon Creatures a lot the Gods realize that you treat their summons with respect and stuff and also the Heroes realize that your strong enough to call them, thus allowing you to summon heroes. Now you can summon heroes, after summoning heroes, the Gods have their eye on you, they believe that you have enough courage and experience, and that your ready to call of them, so lastly you can call on the Gods.

The Non-RP\'ing way of explaining it:
Basically keep experiencing up and up the hierarchy you go.

I would imagine if there was a system like there would be a confidence meter. As you use summons and they survive it would stay the same or go up but if they are defeated your confidence meter would go down and you can\'t use a summon from that specific class for like some time until you can use one again.

ok i see the problem that gods are suppose to be immortal and all powerful if someone was wielding a god they would be unstopable. you have to think as to what is higher then a hero but less then a god cause haveing a god run around with you is just doesnt make much sense even for a fantasy game. lets say you are just allowed to use powerful elementals that wields elemental god-LIKE power but are not immortal and not all powerful.

upon entry leave your shoes.....dont want them dirty after i kill you = P

I always thought that any God in general can\'t interfere with mortal problems directly. So Gods don\'t stay around like heroes, summon creatures, spirits, or guardians. The Gods uses one attack, then it\'ll say ,\"Enough! I shall not waste my time here.\" Then it leaves.

Would it be possible to send summons away? If there was a huge troll attacking you and it would kill both you and the guardian could you send it away to pervent it dying?

Well your kinda like the bridge from the mortal and spiritual realms. Without the player the summon can\'t be used. So if you die or fall then the summon won\'t die but disappears, because there isn\'t a host person to hold that summon.

i think what Cyberchu meant was if you know if you were going to die no matter what by the creature would there be a way to despell your summon so you dont lose expierence with it

there would be a special command called, \"abscond.\" It will make the summon force to leave and you don\'t lose exp. But the time it takes to use it again will double.

That\'s nice, but it should be something like, after asking help from a hero:

Imbue your equipment with the powers of your god (Insane damage boost; devistating magical spells)
Imbue yourself with the powers of your god (Super-strength; super speed; super magical powers)
Ask for the god\'s assistance (Lightning bolt from the sky!)

And why does it have to be \"just creatures\"?

What about asking to borrow a peice or two of your gods armor collection/weapon collection/book collection/alchemy kit? :P

Of course, a god has no time to give you the stuff directly, so you\'d need a hero to send the stuff to you.

[as well, there should only be so-many heros. like, 20 per god each with their own ability, and you get one at random with getting one in favor of your situation (if you\'re low on health you\'re more likely to borrow a healing hero then one that can kill masses of enemies) and only ONE of the heros can ever be summoned at a time; if all the heros are busy, then no hero can come to your aid, though one will be notified and will respond ASAP.
\"I must go now, you no longer need me.\" could be something the hero could say if he\'s needed elsewhere. ;)
Same thing goes for the god\'s pets; there are only so many of them.

This way, you dont get 100 uber mages all summoning the same hero in one big battle all at the same time, looking increadably stupid, all the while.]

Perhaps if you didn\'t summon the hero but were infused with the power of the hero for a certain amount of time.  Then after the time ran out, you\'d have to wait a long time for the spell to recharge.  During this time, you wouldn\'t be about to summon the other creatures or cast any of your spells, but the hero would have his own set of powerful spels and abilities that you would use.
I\'m not racist, I hate everyone equally.
