Well I dont think it would actually be heaven and hell. I was just using those as an example. I mean Talad and Laanx came form a world of gods. Prehaps the players could reach this worl and discover stuff. Mayeb this could lead to the end point of the game. (Which would take a long long long long time to reach and probably wouldnt exist till years form now.

Yes, I would like to be able to travel to other worlds (which IMO is what the slogan refers to, especially as there already are some portals in the cavern system that go to other planes). The gods AFAIK are only meaningful in their \"home plane\" so I\'d expect different dieties (or none at all) in the other planes if i ever manage to get there. Heaven or hell would be too uncreative IMO and also it would mean that either you can\'t do anything there as everybody is just extremely powerful compared to you, or you\'d have about the same power which would make gods totally not worthwile. At least don\'t make it a regular place to visit.

To Druke\'s earlier post

That isn\'t likely because all the races in planeshift are humanoid and are constructed similarly.
I don\'t think a person can move into another universe with different physical and chemical rules. I think if that were to happen, the person would blow up or implode or summin.
But for this game, if there are multiple univerces then i assume that they shall have very simmilar rules.

Good question.

And what about the Lemurs?  Supposedly they came from the center of the planet...

Almost correct:

Quote
Second Epoch: The Division\"
(...) To surprise and amaze him (Talad), she (Laanx) drew the incommensurable power of the azure crystal as much as she could and, in secret, mimicked the rituals of Vod?l to give life to some creatures reproduced in her image. The new people matured and reproduced, they were nice-looking and had a quiet behavior, like their creator, and they called themselves \"Lemurs\".

Lemur Description Page
Quote
Psychology of Lemurs
Everyone knows that the Lemurs were the first of all races to settle in Yliakum, and they are proud of it. The legends tell that their origins of the Lemurs are connected to a huge city located in the depths of earth, abandoned from a widespread disease. No one knows how to reach this city or if anyone still lives there. All lemurs share a sense of loss for their mysterious, distant homeland.

I think we\'ve found a discrepency. 8)

Facts about Lemurs:

1) The Lemur race made by Laanx with a spell granted to her by Vod?l.
2) Lemurs originally lived in Pradesha (big city outside of Yliakum - very old and exists only in legends).
3) Lemurs left the city because of a great disease, and some travelled until they reached Yliakum.

There\'s a big diffrence between \"where they came from\" and \"where they lived\". Very big.

As for what is on the surface... Fresh air and real sun, water, vegetation and lots of more mobs to kill, items to find, quests to solve and probably a bunch of interactive NPCs. However, why don\'t we just let the devs finish Yliakum before we start worrying about what\'s outside of it, hmm? :)

hmmmm..... maybe i am simple minded but i always thought that \"PLANESHIFT- A universe is not enough \"
was refering to the fact that a universe is not enough that there should also be things like life forms as well as food and drink for them.... maybe even a whole range of material items not to mention some things for the mind and soul....

but hey, what do i know ???

There might not be a surface per se. Or one just so boring that no-one would want to go there. Perhaps an endless wasteland. Running along it, you\'d get a pattern of Rock, Wind, Sand. Rock, Wind, Sand. Rock, Wind, Sand. Rock, Wind, Etc.

Personally I think that Planeshift - The Universe Is Not Enough means simply that our universe is not enough.  So they are providing us with the world of Planeshift so we have another universe to visit when ours isn\'t enough.  Although I could be completely wrong...

Planeshift shares the plane fascination with Planescape. That\'s how it started...

You sure about that? I mean, while the history doesn\'t explicitly state that the Lemurs were created _in_ Yliakum, it IMO impiles that, since the whole desire of Laanx and Talad was to have ppl. living in Yliakum as quick as possible, why would they create the new race that they wished to inhabit Yliakum in another place?

I would imagine that the legend of Pradesha really _is_ a legend that the Lemurs made up for not knowing better?

I think you should consider reading the history of PlaneShift. You might learn something. :)

Quote
After many generations of the Lemur had passed, Laanx wandered into a cave that was hundreds of times bigger than the one he created, where beings without a name dwelt. At the top he spied a huge stalactite that occupied one third of the vault, and which produced a thin rain of clear water. It was the conic block of rock that held Yliakum.
At the middle of the cave, he saw a deep lake full of life, whose shores were a fertile soil. The Lemurs believed that their god had led them to a new home. Their praises and thanks to Laanx echoed in the cave and many sacrifices were made.
In that moment Laanx became aware of the presence of his followers, and he was stricken by their faith and ingenuity. His heart became a little softer, and he gave his people many powerful and useful things to brighten the cave and make the lake and its shores a place to live. The Lemurs multiplied rapidly, built the ten towns of Kadaikos, and they became a prosperous and numerous populations
