Don't wait to get your Driver's License
« on: July 16, 2004, 12:01:01 am »
I just got my Driver\'s License today in the state of California, I missed 9; the max you can miss is 15, anyways. Don\'t wait last minute like I did. I\'m very fortunate to pass because my college starts next month, and think of the troubles that could\'ve arisen from not getting my license. Anyways, ya don\'t wait, if you have a pink slip from Driver\'s Ed, get your permit. If you already got a permit and waited six months, get your license. Don\'t put yourself in a situation like me and be scared to death. Anyways its good to have a license during high school. I was like the only senior to walk home and I had to ask people for rides, I learned this lesson the hard way, don\'t let it happen to you. ya but I can drive now, yay more freedom for me.

I got my license just before they introduced the idea of \'graduated licenses\' here.  It has a bunch of rules that I would have been stuck with. For example, you are on \'Level 1\' for at least 12 months. In that time you:

1) Must be accompanied by licenced driver.
What\'s the point in that? Most people want their licenses so they don\'t have to turn their parents, brother, sister into a taxi driver.

2) Novice Driver must have 0% Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
Well, this is a good one and I think should be for ALL drivers.

3) No passengers

4) \"NOVICE DRIVER\" sign must be displayed in a conspicuous position upon the rear of the motor vehicle
I guess that is better than having a sign: \"Newbie Driver. Look out MoFo\'s!!\"

When I was at the DMV the people in front of me in line were talking about how this was there last chance. If they totaled any more cars they wouldn\'t be able to drive untill they were 18.
I don\'t want to drive untill my sister can drive. I don\'t really want to go anywhere, and I don\'t want to have to take my sister all over the place. She has somewhere she has to be everyday and my parents are tired of driving her.

Same thing here, only that we only have to do that for 6 months.
While I can more or less understand #4, #1 and #3 sound like a joke. I actually laughed when I first heard about it, I thought they\'re joking.

I dunno about getting a driver\'s license. I don\'t need it to go to work because I just walk there, and I don\'t need it for anything else. Besides, taking cources in MSCE sounds more cost-effective in the long-run.

I have copies of [Windows] 3.1, 3.11, 95, and 98, too. Not to mention various versions of MS-DOS

I\'ll be turning 16 the 3oth of this month and my mom is gona force me to get my licence at that time. Not that I mind so much but being Homeschooled I don\'t have to wory about being the only person walking home, and I\'d rather be at home on the internet than driving around anyway.

Im turning 16 in a month and Ive had my permit for over a year now. I got my permit as soon as I could, I figured driving with your parents is better than just riding with them... But I already have a car that is totally paid for so I guess all I have to do is pass my road test.
