severe lag issues

every time i log in, i get severe lag in the game, is there anyway to stop all this lag, i can hardly move my character and log off, can someone help me, i want to play this kick ass game

There are two ways to \"cure\" the lag. a) buy a new computer, or b) wait for Crystal Blue (v0.3) to be released. It has some majorly optimized code and a new renderer, which will make the game run much smoother. Besides, it\'s not a kickass game yet, it\'s a technical demo. There\'s nothing to do in there.

The lag problems are going to be on your end most of the time. High lag can come from bad areas or old computers, and not slow internet. If your connection is dropping out then you might have lag, but if you have a constant connection of 8kbps you should be fine.
So, what this means is that either you are downloading many small files out of a queue while you are playing and distrupting your network(highly unlikely), or your PC is unable to handle Planeshift. Do not worry yet. Try running Planeshift in safe mode. Safe mode says that it is slower, but on some computers it is faster because it doesn\'t try to use the stuff that your computer is lacking. If you still have problems and your CPU is at least 1ghz then you need more ram. If it is less than 1ghz than you will probably need to update your video card, and then possibly buy more ram. If you upgrade your video card you should run the game in OpenGL mode(not safe mode) to see if you need more ram.
It may be cheaper to buy a new PC if yours is less than 800mhz and doesn\'t have a 3D accelerator.

i got plenty of RAM and i got a FAST connection, i already uninstall the game and deleted it because it was the LAGEST GAME EVER!

How much ram and do you have a good graphics card? How fast is your processor? Somebody got Planeshift running pretty well by running safe mode on a Athlon XP 2000 and no 3D acceleration.

I have 1 Gig RAM. GForce4 64mb GFX card. P4 Processor. Win XP. My computer is damn near close to a godly gaming computer yet it still lags me like crazy.

The lag is also server-based due to memory leaks there (so I\'ve been told in the past), so you can\'t achieve everything through good computer specs.
The next version will use a more recent version of the engine and also a lot of rewritten code, so hopefully it will get better.

Apparently Mogura was getting close to 200 FPS with a GeforceFX 5200, but I think someone else with the same card reported slowness.  Moral of the story is that framerate in MB is wack, so you\'ll just have to put up with it, or not play PS until the next release Real Soon Now.  Of course, no one is making any loud claims that it\'s faster - they\'ve switched to Crystal Space\'s \"new renderer\" which is more designed for modern graphics cards, but still hasn\'t been widely tested/optimised.
