i have a question

it states that the combat will be real time does that mean zelda ooc style or the basic retarded rpg stlye?

News, news, news! A lot of things happened since the last update, here are some details on the three main areas we were working on:


cal3d models: the migration to the new format and the changes needed to our player 3D models are now completed
new Crystal Space renderer: the transition to the new renderer is complete, we were able to convert all our levels to the new format. There is still a pending work on converting particles, but not mandatory for the release.
terrain engine: testing and debugging of terrain engine is complete, it\'s not amazingly fast, but it\'s surely nice looking.


Overall the assets needed for Crystal Blue release are ready and we are starting the internal testing these days.


Fragnetics is setting up a new server for us to be ready for CB. We want to start with just one server, to have all players meet and have fun together and then add new servers as required. We already have some other hosters that can help.


The combat system is in place. It\'s realtime with the ability to PVP only if the other player accepts. Magic is a bit behind, but engine team is working on new tools that will allow us to define very fast new particle effects for spells.      
After CB release we plan to add content continuously to the public server.


We want to apologize for the lack of time to correctly follow new prospect developers and for not answering all their emails. Every small bit of our time is dedicated to release. We will start a big recruit campaign just after release to collect your help and wishes.

Most likely the \"retarded rpg\" combat, not that thats a problem with me. It would be quite crazy having a zelda style game, with all the collison tests.....and stuff

Realtime means you target an enemy, press the attack button and watch your character slay your enemy.

If you\'re a mage, it gets more difficult as you need to select which spells to launch at your enemy.

It\'s simple, but it\'s a start. You can\'t expect the whole team to kiss your feet and make Teh Uber fighting system at Alpha stage. They need to work out the basics first. :)

Anyway, to make it simple. It\'ll be easier to be a fighter than being a mage, which kinda makes sense in some logical way or another.

P.S. Well one can hope that will evtually happen, but for examples of real time combat look at Star Ocean 2, Prince of Persia, Jedi Knights II; ok two of these aren\'t rpg\'s but they are examples of real time combat (stonking good ones at that).

We could do complex combat without a high load by doing Pokemon style combat. I know that it isn\'t a good example because alot of you will see the Pokemon and automaticaly ignore the rest of the thread, but read on because it is good. Heroes of Might and Magic. That\'s a better example. When they players fight it just kind of shows them fighting, but if you are fighting then it would drop into Mortal Combat/Soul Caliber/your favorite areana based fighting game here. That would be cool. Even cooler if you could see people moving around behind the arena.
