Why SpoonScape is wrong for you
« on: July 19, 2004, 02:51:20 pm »
Seeing as i got my new vid. card, i wanted to check out if the amount of lag in the-game-that-shall-not-be-named was due to my old vid. card, or to the games crapy design (im a DSLer).

When i first got to their site, i saw a link that said \"Why R***S**** is right for you?\". So, remembering that the last time i played the game (over a year ago) that i was cursing the devs for those precious hours of my life that were wasted on that [insert dirty word here]. So i decided to see what the fuss was about, and why this game was said to be so great. And i was shocked to find out the amount bull poop that was on that site.

So, here is why i think SpoonScape is wrong for you:

Why Spoonscape is wrong for you:

Why should you choose RuneScape as your number one online multiplayer game?

The answer is simple - it\'s accessible to ALL!

RuneScape is accessible to nearly everyone using the Internet.
Using a 56k modem/phone line it takes less than 5 minutes to fully download the game and start playing!

Minimum system requirements are 64mb ram. Works on Windows, Mac and Linux!

Well, in the first statement i realy cant argue with what they say, mostly because they use the magical word \"nearly\" and the magical word \"minimum\". But dont worry, seeing how that game laged with my DSL conection and my 512mb of RAM, if you have those \"minimum\" system requirments... you are\'nt going no-where.

Easy to get started

Upon signing up for an account, there is a short (and fun!) tutorial to complete which takes you through the basics of the game. After that you will be let loose in the world of RuneScape amongst thousands of players!

Short? And Fun?
I was siting there for about an hour not doing anything, just listining to those dim whited NPCs giving me a vivid description on how to use a click-&-wait combat system. And where are the thousands of players that you promiced me? I see only about 400-500 on my server? Plus more than half of them are acting like complete b*tches.

Free to play

Our free servers give you unlimited play! There is no limit to how long you can keep using the free version for, and there\'s hours and hours of things to do! So even if you\'re short on cash you won\'t be left out.

Yes, the game is free to play for those who are short on cash, but dont expect to get anything special. Most areas of the map are closed off unless you can pay, and unless you have a payed for account i believe you are also restricted to the level of some of your skills...

And as far as \"hours of fun\", here is what SpoonScape was like for me:
first 4 hours: completing quests until the \"free\" ones were eather done, or to boring to continue.
next 2 hours: being very very bored with the game and with my lvl17 char.
next 1 hour: quiting the game and looking for another free MMORPG to play.
1-2 hours later: I FOUND PLANESHIFT! and i have been here for about a year now!

Our member\'s benefits are massive. Quadruple bank space, more quests, more monsters, more landscape, more weapons, advert free play, priority customer support and much, much more. And our subscriptions cost far less than our competitors.

Well, like i said, you want anything good, go pay! And as far as costing less than their competators, i dare them to explain to me how they cost less than planeshift?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, its because of the-game-that-shall-not-be-named that i found Plane Shift, so i guess that there is a good thing about it...

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

No, your completely correct. However the game itself right now is better than MB, isn\'t it.
Once CB comes out there shall be no question about which is the better. Hopefully.

Lol...\"Accessible to nearly everyone on the internet!\"

That alone scares me. The internet is full of idiots and a free game draws them like flies...Oh crap. I don\'t think I want to play CB any more -_-

RussianVodka I agree with you also completely but the lag thing? I dunno, I use a 56k and I don\'t get much lag.
But other than that you are right the game blows. Although I do play it for once in a every month or so for like 3 minutes until I realize how boring it is.
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

Well, who can blame you. One has to play something exciting before CB comes out.
Seriously, come out CB, come out.

Seriously, if you ever get the temptation to play that game, pick up a good fps.  It isn\'t a complete waste of time, in fact, it could help you get a job with the army. :P

You\'re right. I don\'t wanna be in the army though.

Games like Runescape, you play, but soon you realize why you keep leaving it over and over again. CB isn\'t out yet, and I hope that it doesn\'t have that attribute that runescape had, which just made you leave it after a three-four days of playing it, max.

That is so incredibly untrue. I have far more fun in Molecular Blue than is possible in Runescape. MB is a fun game, whether you can do anything or not. Runescape\'s only advantage is less lag, as far as I\'m concerned.

I\'m op at #planeshift-love, babe ;)

Although i don\'t like SpoonScape nor Tibia for that matter...i migth actully do a topic on that :P As far as i am concerned MB is less fun than SpoonScape or Tibia...simply because you very limited in having fun on MB...not saying you can\'t hehe but in limited ways...

How do you have any fun in Runescape? Limited fun is better than no fun.

Actually, yelling at beggars is pretty fun. But MB is still better.

Everything you said was right on (exept for the lag, I\'m on 28K and have no trouble with lag). When ever I\'m online and I\'m bored I fire up my other comp and start playing Battlefiled 1942, or start up my PSone and play SO2, cause SpoonScape is\'nt worth a plug nickle.

BF:VIETNAM Owns!!!

*ahem*

Spoonscrape is currently better in a technical sense, but all the players there are annoying 12-year-olds.  This detracts so much from the game that it becomes an unrecognizable piece of.....

PS: I was annoying when I was 12 too, but I wasn\'t a jerk like most are now.  Just ask the relicnews forums mods, there\'s a 3% chance they\'ll remember \"Dr. Dude\". :P

*walks up to the podium*

Hello my name is DepthBlade aka. Marc and I am a C00nScape addict. I realized it only when I joined PlaneShift and was informed that it was a addicting evil drug that is the scum of internet communities! I have been C00nScape free for 2 months 2weeks and five days 1 hr...20mins...42-43 seconds! When ever I have the urge to play I remeber all the flaming I received when standing to its defense!
