My little accident
« on: July 19, 2004, 08:35:27 pm »
I woke up today and had to go to work after a few days of vacation. Im not yet 16, so I drive this little moped that only goes 30 mph. Anyway as I was approaching work and was about to turn into it...thats where my memory stops. I cant remember the accident or anything past that point. From what I gathered, I had my turn signal on and there was a car behind me that slowed down. But another car came and pased the first car, obviously oblivious to the fact that a moped was turning. It slammed into me broadside and sent me flying accross the pavement. After the both I and the vehical had stopped, I guess I began having seizures, my body shook uncontrolably. I was either knocked out at impact or I lost my memory during my seizure.

But anywho, the ambulence was called and my dad was called. I guess my dad arrived just as the ambulence was leaving and he had to wave it down. (note, I am unconscience this whole time). We raced to the hostpital with the sirens blazing. I started comming around in the ambulence. The dude that was with me started asking me obvious questions such as Who is the President? What day is it? Whats your Birthday? of which I could not answer any of them. I did not remember anything except that school was out and that I had to go to work :]

I slowly regained conscienceness and it turned out that I only had minor damage to my body, road rash all over my body, legs, arms, stomach, back, and shoulders. I had to further injuries, which the doctor said was surprising given the fact that I had been tossed over 10 feet and rolled for about 15. I was wearing a helmet thankfully, and it probably saved my life.

So thats my closest experience with death. I know It sounds like some little kid thing, but...helmets will save your life. Just get a full racing helmet like me and it looks cool to wear it ;)

So I was riding my bike down a long hill, going real real fast.

Now, I\'m not an experienced biker, so when someone yelled \"BoB!\" I did the stupidest thing possible: Tried to stop.

The bike flipped over, and I went flying over the handlebards, landing, of course, on my head. Thankfully, I was wearing a helmet. I was completely fine, except for not noticing that my clip-on sunglasses had flown off. I went over to my friend\'s friend\'s house and put a Band-Aid on my elbow.

So we went searching for the clip-ons, but I had no idea where I had fallen. First off, I have no sense of geography and depend on my friends to tell me where to go. Second, I couldn\'t remember the surroundings where I had fallen.

So we picked up one of the people I\'d been with, and he found the place in no time. The sunglasses were under a bush.

In conclusion, wear your helmet. And your seatbelt, I have another story should a thread about that come up.

One time me and a friend where riding our scooters around his house (relly RELLAY step hills) i can ride without hands so i let go,bad idea, while going like 20 mph the scooter started wiggling and the wheel went from this l to this _ so i flew for war down a steep hill (to give u an idea)
\\-
..\\
....\\
i hit my head on the ground, my helmet flew off(wow second time i ever wore a helmet with a scooter what luck) and i skidded about 12 feet on my right arm.  after the crash my arm was coverd with blood, i was shaking on the ground, and my visiomn was blurred. i eventually got up and we went to a friends house close by where i  got cleaned up.  because of that accident my whole right arm is coverd with (wait leme count) 7 major scars and a buch of white dots evrywhere.

and about a week ago while crossing the street i got hit by a car. i rolled over the hood, rolled over the wind sheild and flew off the car. i some how landed standing up with nothing wrong with me but a stomach ache.  i remember the car was a black 2004 corrola but i was to feaked out to get the plate #. oh ya and the car didnt even stop it just kept going =P

Stomach aches are a sign of a concussion. If this happened recently, see a doctor.

If riding a moped, scooter,  or just crossing the streat... ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET!!!

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

I was riding my bike out on one of these country raods around where I live. I had one of our dogs along with me and he was tied to my handels bar because he was ratyher agresive and we had to keep a close eye on him. anyway as I\'m crusing along at about 25 MPH he decides to stop dead in his tracks and take care of business right in the middle of the road. I go flying over my handlebars, and land on my side after using my head (albeit unintentionaly) to stop my fall. Thankfuly I had a helmet on and had (also unintentionaly) rolled myself into a ball shape before I landed which prevented me from any injury that lasted more than 5 minutes.

Another time I was riding with my dad in his work van, and we got hit in the middle of an intersection by some guy who ran a red light. I had my head down looking at the floor when he hit us, and my side of the van missed a telephone pole by about 4 inches. Had that pole been juts a few inches closer I would\'nt be here today to talk about it. as it was I did\'nt even get a scratch (but my dad had some serious neck problems before that wreck and that wreck almost totaly ruined his neck. he was able to have surgery and is fine today).

Glad to hear you\'re okay, Ice. That sounds like quite a traumating experience, and considering you were knocked unconcious, you\'re probably right in thinking the helmet saved your life.

*looks at the other posters* Did you even read what Icefalcon wrote before gloating about your own stories? :P Show some respect!

Glad to hear you\'re ok!  That must have been rather terrifying.  (Sorry, I always hate stating the obvious, but...)

I always hate how cars never look were they\'re going...

lol... sorry but i have to laugh, sounds like something my uncle did once, except he was on a motorcycle, and he went flying through the air. Got staples all over, had to stay in a wheelchair for a while, Ouch!

Can\'t believe i remember this but.....

When I was 4 or 5 my mom was washing the dishes as my balloon flew towards the ceiling. Instead of getting up I jump while i\'m sitting, miss, spin around, and crack my head open against the corner of the wall.

In conclusion wear helmets at all times including indoors. :P
